From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warmth and friendliness. This family run hotel made you feel welcomed, right from the start. Our balcony room had a spectacular view of the coastline beach. The cleanliness of our room surpassed our high expectations. The daily breakfast provided such an amazing array of fresh pastries and fruit and unique delicacies of the region. For U.S. travelers, this is nothing like a Hilton/Marriot continental breakfast, there is simply no comparison. Even more impressive was our fabulous meal at the Michelin star rooftop restaurant. The stunning spiral glass steps surrounding the elevator was an impressive architectural feature adding to the elegance of the hotel. We look forward to future stays here and highly recommend so for anyone thinking about staying here.

Taverna del Capitano is a true hidden gem on the Amalfi Coast, we loved staying in Nerano and experiencing a more quiet, local village. The hotel is run and owned by a very kind, hospitable family and the rooms are comfortable with beautiful tiles. We loved our sea view room! Breakfast is abundant and delicious, and the Michelin starred restaurant on the roof is not to be missed — Chef Alfonso Caputo prepared a wonderful vegetarian menu for us which was tasty and creative. I can't wait to return to the hotel and Nerano in the future!

This is the first hotel I have ever rated a full 10/10, and it absolutely deserves it. Taverna del Capitano is a third- and fourth-generation family-run hotel, and you can feel that legacy in every detail — from the warm, personal welcome to the effortless service that makes you feel part of their family. The Michelin-starred restaurant is extraordinary, with every meal crafted under the vision of the family’s own award-winning chef. Every dish tells a story of the family and the Amalfi Coast — elegant, authentic, and unforgettable. The hotel itself is perfectly located right on the beach in the charming seaside town of Nerano, which has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and an impressive culinary scene (there are two Michelin-starred restaurants in town). The setting is intimate and peaceful — ideal for anyone who loves waking up to the sea right outside their window. If there’s one “champagne problem,” it’s that the waves crash quite loudly on the rocky beach below the rooms at night. But honestly, that’s a small price to pay for falling asleep to the rhythm of the Mediterranean. A true gem on the Amalfi Coast — refined, genuine, and unforgettable. Absolutely nothing

Perfect location in the amazing town of Nerano. Nothing

The room was spacious and comfortable, right on the beach and close to restaurants, ATM and a little market that had everything you might need in a pinch plus great wine and cheese selection. Transportation to and from Naples was limited and expensive via taxi.

We received the warmest welcome by the amazing staff of this family run business that brings together a renowned restaurant with a more recently added resort. Nothing could have been better. Notably, breakfast was superb, with a mix of premium quality local products and expressly cooked dishes.

The starred restaurant is superb, as is the copious breakfast with local products. We absolutely love everything about La Taverna del Capitano.

Position. Elegance. Simplicity Breakfast…. Probably the best I have ever had No coffee machine in the room Breakfast started at 8. So if you wake up early you have to wait.

I had an unforgettable stay at this family-run gem on the Amalfi Coast. The staff were incredibly sweet and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The hotel boasts a Michelin-star restaurant, and the food was simply outstanding—each course on the tasting menu was a culinary delight. Breakfast was superb, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. My room was beautiful, offering the most peaceful night’s sleep with the sound of the ocean in the background. Everything was perfect. The room was comfortable and spacious. The view was amazing. It was really good that beach loungers were available for free to hotel guests. Spending time by the beach everyday was such a luxury. The breakfast provided was the best I’ve ever had. So many options and they all taste delicious. Everyone at the hotel was also very welcoming and friendly. It can be quite stressful to travel alone but the people running the hotel and restaurant always made me feel the most welcomed. I cannot wait to stay there again. Nothing at all!

The breakfast was exceptional. Locally grown fruits, homemade jams, pastries. Local meat and seafood in individual servings. The family that runs the hotel and restaurant are very kind. Great service. There is no sand on the beach. But they put out lounge chairs and will bring food and drinks to you which is great.
