Comfort Inn Matthews - Charlotte

Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Gave 4 out of 5 because our room felt very damp for our entire stay, even with the AC running almost all the time. I've stayed here several times before and hadn't experienced this previously.

The rooms were clean a little musty but not bad.. bathroom was clean, staff was helpful, coffee was good.. Food ok if you like carbs.

Very friendly staff. But, the disability access rooms were a bit outdated. A rail which was not totally secure and a leaning toiler kept us from staying in our original room. Also, the handicap seat in the shower was missing one of the rubber footings.

We had mold on our curtains. There was a man clearly on drugs hanging out outside the main entrance that you have to walk by with kids in tow to get in and no one seemed to have any concern.

The room had a musty smell upon entering every single time. The carpet and stained curtains are dated and should be replaced. There appeared to be some mold growing on a wall in the bath room, or maybe it was dirt. The staff was lovely, and the free self-serve breakfast was standard fare. Parking was available and well-lit. This hotel is convenient to shopping, and we would stay there again.

Breakfasts was fine. Buffet with lots of selections. Delicious waffles. Excellent location and pool was really great, clean, warm not crowded . Staff helpful and friendly. Prices were terrific. Building and rooms need updating… a few small things broken in our room… which we reported and was told would be fixed. The house cleaners were very accommodating. We smelled some smoke at times in the elevator and our room had a lingering musty/ kinda smokey aroma. It was tolerable. Bed’s very comfy and clean. Our room number 239 had a broken sink drain and broken towel bar in the bathroom. It also had a smoke smell.. we had the cleaners spray an air freshener.. but it never went away. There was also smoke smells in the elevator at times. The No-smoking policy is not strictly enforced . The property inside needs freshening and upgrading. The most important upgrade should be handrail design that goes along the steps from the second floor down to the main lobby. They are very dangerous. There is no handrail at the top step.. due to the design of the landing. This is highly dangerous especially when descending. To fully understand it must be seen. I’m surprised it would even pass a safety inspection!! Recommend using the elevator.

We always stay at this hotel. It's in a great spot! It does need some TLC though. I reported Saturday morning to the first shift front desk clerk about the toilet seat being loose, but I was told that I would have to change rooms. We had a conference to attend so we had to go. Upon our return I stopped by the front desk to see if the night clerk had an update about the toilet repair. She said that she had not been told about it. Once I reported it to her (Suzanne), she immediately got tools and tighten up the toilet seat! And then she put in a work order to secure the toilet, because it was also moving! I just want to say it's because of Suzanne that I will consider a return, because of her due diligence of correcting this matter! She's what customer service should be all of the time! God bless you! I hope that the management will start to update this hotel. Please start with the a/c vents due to mildew smell. I don't want anyone to get sick!
