Location kinda They told us to leave because the owner change but I think they could inform us that before or even in booking also they never came to clean the room

Zero activities in the hostel (!) except of one day when they rented their “garden” for the private party where people from hostel were not allowed (yes, it’s exactly what happened, they even put security to not let nobody come in). The music was incredible loud until 4am. I did not sleep that night at all and asked them to make refund (not for that night, at least for next ones) and they… refused because of their non-refund policy. I’m not surprised that so big hostel is empty, just regretting that I didn’t choose another one. Wish them to find adequate management because the place has potential but what they do with it is disaster

There were a few small plastic pieces on the floor so a little more cleaning before checkin would have been good; lighting in room was a bit dim

    Little bit of noise

The beds were platform beds and not the most comfortable.

Perfect location, walking distance to a lot of places and easy to get around. Lack restock on towels and toilet paper. It was frustrating to keep having to go downstairs to get towels because house keeping took our towels and didn’t restock.

The staff was amazing! The service was incredible, location perfection, and the room could've been home for months. Thank you!

Clean, had warm water in the shower, curtains on the beds No social gatherings at all, no area dedicated for it, no vibe or people mingling. The staff is not nice or helpful

The location was the best part of the experience. If you are reading this review, I do not recommend you booking socialtel. Upon arrival to my room (806) for a 8 day stay, it had a horrible smell of rotten eggs. Due to me arriving at 2am I waiting till the next morning to tell the staff. Cris (one of the desk staff) told me that it was the AC and made some repair to the AC that minimally addressed the issue. On the third day of my stay the room completely flooded due to a leak/hole in the roof!! This was on a Friday night, and the front desk staff told me it could not be repaired until Monday. I spoke with the manager the following morning. He initially me a room without AC, although the room I prepaid for had AC. He then offered me a 40% refund/discount which I agreed to accept. This was never paid!! On the 5th night, the room 806 flooded again! The manager Jay was able to transfer me to room 808. The day before check out I had to ask 3 times for my room bill to be emailed to me. I wanted to see if the 40% discount had been applied. When I asked the manager about the 40% discount, he then offered me a 10% discount instead. I pushed back and he offered to pay for my ride to the airport and a 10% discount. He did not acknowledge the original 40% discount that he offered. Upon checkout Jay asked me to text or email him my credit card or bank account number to receive a refund of 10%. Due to the obvious risk of my account details being stolen I did not provide this info by text or email. I was still at the hotel and they had no systematic way to process the 10% refund. Jay the told me that he would have a meeting with the general manager and find a way to refund me. HE NEVER FOLLOWED UP AND THE OFFER OF A REFUND WAS JUST A LIE TO KEEP CALM AND QUIET!

We chose to stay at this SocialTel in Medellín because we trusted the SocialTel brand from our previous experience in Thailand (Koh Samui), where everything was professional, modern, and welcoming. Based on that trust, we booked a 3-night stay as a couple. Unfortunately, our experience started very poorly at check-in. I entered the hotel first with our luggage and approached the reception desk, while my wife followed a few steps behind, casually recording a short video on her phone for her YouTube channel. The female receptionist who assisted us — not the younger girl with glasses, but a more mature woman — was already cold, rude, and uninterested while speaking with me. When she noticed my wife entering with a phone in her hand, she visibly shook her head and looked at her in a very dismissive and judgmental way, clearly making an inappropriate assumption. When I addressed my wife and it became obvious that we were together, the receptionist seemed shocked and realized her assumption was wrong. Despite this, she did not apologize and did not change her attitude. She continued to behave in a rude, unprofessional, and unwelcoming manner. Even simple questions were answered with the same cold and unpleasant tone. Another strange and disappointing situation happened when we asked for a hair dryer. Even though I had already fully completed the check-in process, the staff requested that we leave a passport, driver’s license, or some form of ID in exchange for the hair dryer. This felt completely unnecessary and excessive. We have stayed in many hotels and SocialTel properties before, and this is something we have never experienced. It did not feel professional and did not align with the standards of an international hospitality brand. I would like to sincerely thank Miguel at the reception and the event coordinator (I apologize for not remembering his name). Both were kind, respectful, and professional, and they truly represented what hospitality should be. To be fair and objective, the breakfast was actually good and enjoyable. The hotel’s location is also excellent and is clearly one of its strongest advantages. However, aside from these positives, this stay was a complete disappointment. The rooms are very old and clearly in need of serious renovation, and the overall service level does not reflect the SocialTel brand we trusted. The behavior we experienced at check-in — especially from a senior staff member — was particularly concerning and not appropriate for the tourism and hospitality industry. In summary: good breakfast, excellent location, and a couple of outstanding staff members — but a very poor first impression, disrespectful behavior at check-in, no apology for inappropriate assumptions, unnecessary ID requests for basic amenities, recurring complaints about the same staff behavior, and outdated rooms made this stay far below expectations and a complete disappointment.

this was a bad experience, I recommend to look for other hotels in the area, Sociatel is going through a poor administration. - water was cut-off during 2 of the 6 days of our reservation, staff were not helpful at all, we were left having to go purchase water bottles to clean our self and try to use the batrooms. - the place is just very under-staffed at the moment, there is only a couple people running the whole hotel so they cannot help you with anything really. - the "included breakfast" is very limited, it only includes dark coffee, tea and ONE kind of juice, but because they are understaffed, most days there is no juice at all. - if you want a capuccino or a hot chocolate with your breakfast you have to pay extra. - the cleaning service only changes the bed sheets, they will not sweep the room or vacumn or anything else. (again they are very understaffed) this use to be a great place, but the current administration is killing it. DO NOT STAY HERE.

First I was given a room with no windows but staff was pretty kind and found the way to get me a room with windows. The room was cute, cozy with nice views but needs improvement. The curtains were torn and old including the bathroom which kills the nice feel of the room. It had a space to hang clothes but no hangers were given. Overall great location and nice cafe area.

  • Engine customer Apr 2025

Poor quality, room was super noisy. Could not sleep. Extra low quality bathroom supplies, linen and cleanliness

  • Engine customer Apr 2025

No even a fan in a private room, basic rooms come with fans so paying extra I figured it would have at least a fan.
