Thao Nguyen Hotel

I like only the location Bath room commode was full of insects when we just entered. Room was filled with insects as the windows was not properly closed. Room was smelling the wooden panels. Had asked to change the room and they did that. Coffee shop food ({Pizza and fried chicken) made all my family serious food poisoning and all started vomiting and loose motion. We traveled back to Hanoi with all difficulties and it took a week to recover. Morning breakfast was also mostly finished by 8.30am. Very bad experience with the hotel. Pls make sure no one else will have the same bad experience.

The location is great, the room is large enough. The pillow is not really comfortable. The badroom is unclean and The bathroom ceiling is leaking. I complained to the staff but did not receive any apology, their attitude was very superficial

A big spacious room, a bit dated but okay. The staff is supersweet, they do everthing to make you enjoy the stay, even gave me to heaters to get my luggage dry after biking through the rain. Location is a bit far from restaurants. Not much around in walking distance so you better have a vehicel.

The reception staff were polite and helpful, and the reception area looks professional, which is why I'd give it a 3. Apart from that there was very little to like. Where do you start. We apparently were upgraded. The room we were upgraded to was dismal, very poor state generally, the bed was like sleeping on a board, and our balcony was next door to where staff congregated in great numbers pretty much all day long. I dread to think what our original room was like if this was an upgrade. We ventured out looking for lunch at the hotel. Soon became apparent that wasn't going to be possible, they just wasn't serving food anywhere in the hotel grounds, so we were ferried to an empty cafe across the road, which was very forgettable. It got worse for evening meal. Reception staff wanted to know when we wanted dinner, and what we wanted. The menu is in Vietnamese, and we are vegetarians, so was all but impossible to understand what the meal contained. However the receptionist assured it would be a lovely vegetarian meal, and we arranged for 7pm. Went to the restaurant at 7pm and it was locked up. Went to reception to see what was happening, and was asked to wait. What happened after that was just plain bizarre. Suffice to say we didn't eat that night. We couldn't wait to get out of there next morning. It's a shame, because the place could be so much better, and likely was in times gone by. Grossly overpriced at nearly a million dong a night. To be honest, I wouldn't stay there again if they paid me a million.
