Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay

It was ok, but nothing great. We checked in late at night, and the employee didn’t give us good directions to the room, we were walking outside lost, we went back to reception and another employee did the same thing. Room was ok, but I would never go back there

I wouldn't come back to this hotel. It's very loud in the hallways with kids and the worse thing is the seagulls screaming all night. It's unbearable. I pre-paid months in advance for 7 night with my mom. We had a balcony room. It was so loud and I was woken up often. NEVER again.

Lovely hotel which is well positioned. The rooms were clean and big enough for a family. Staff were also very helpful when we needed them

Location was convenient. Rooms were clean and staff was unfailingly pleasant. But very little space to hang or store clothing which is inconvenient if you want to unpack. One small section of the closet had four or five shelves for shoes, but not much else. None of the furniture (night stand, tables or counter tops) had drawers or doors that opened. A little odd . . .

I think this property is in the process orf renovation, in that one room we stayed in was modern, and the other not so much. The property over all was high average, not a spectacular value, but a perfect downtown location. And the people were nice, the best part of any hotel .

Very comfortable and well sized room. Enjoyed the gym and family friendly pool area. Lovely jacuzzi. Excellent location.

Excellent customer service from valets and all staff. The air conditioning unit was very noisy and made it hard to sleep. The shower glass doors did not keep water from spilling all over the bathroom floor.

Beautiful hotel, great location, wonderful staff- well worth a stay!

I love that they are there to love and support dogs. The location was awesome, the car auction was super fun, edit. It are all a great experience.

The localization Very expensive hotel for the services it provides. The bedroom is very small, the bathroom is old, and the front desk people are not very friendly

Hotel was very nice, clean, well maintained and in a good location. Only downside is we couldn’t get the phone to dial room to room.

I will stay there again

This was a beautiful hotel in an extremely central location. The staff were all friendly and helpful, even the car park security when we were struggling to find a parking spot. Only downside was the spa was closed which wasn't communicated before we arrived, and the pool is tiny.

The bathroom lacked amenities. No place to hang towels

The main lobby area was beautiful. Nice stroll to the wharf and aquarium area. Our room keys got deactivated after one night and we had to trek all the way to the front lobby to get them rekeyed as the rooms are pretty far. No apologies or reason was given, that was a bit of a negative interaction with the staff. We enjoyed that there was a Carmel bakery right on site.

Great location and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The valet parking was competitive compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in. $10 for a bottle of water is scandalous!!
