Wonderful hotel right on the water by the Marina, within walking distance to restaurants. Very quiet and peaceful with wonderful staff and will return again.

Staff was super helpful. I had to make a last-minute change a date due to a family emergency. They were very accommodating and very clean and super simple. Check in process took like five minutes tops. highly recommended.

Awful bed, no heat control-cold and damp, spoiled creamers in the kitchen, motel 6 is much better. No staff to be seen

Quaint place. Enjoyed the location by the water.

Room as described: those in the "boathouse" are all about the great view. Nice to have binoculars provided to check out the many birds and the otters. There is a nice booklet which gave a history of the property and the area, as well as restaurant reviews and things to do. That's where I found that if you take the hotel's business card to a local restaurant, you'd get a free fired artichoke, which we did, and it was delicious. Huge tub in the room looked romantic but was impractical to use. We had read the reviews and knew the bed would be elevated; not a problem for us but could be tricky for some folks. Nice to have access to the common area for a cup of chamomile before bed. Two comments on property maintenance (mostly aesthetic): lots of sparrow poop outside the upstairs rooms; no suggestions for a fix. Wish the giant windows were cleaner (salt spray from the ocean, I get it).

We enjoyed our stay at the Captain's Inn. The historic building was charming and the staff was helpful. We especially liked the little dog and turtles.

Communicating with staff was very difficult. We couldn’t hear or understand them on the phone and had to do text only, which was also difficult. We had to give our information several times before they would give us a room code. They were located 20 minutes away. That being said the property was unique and well appointed. We liked the glassware and ceramic coffee mugs. The common room had pastries and extra keurig coffee and cream. The views, hikes, birds were amazing. The property is right on the salinas River. I probably wouldn’t return because things were so confusing.

We liked the location. It was right near the Monterey Hydrobike location. The room was unique. The view from the Sail Away room was magnificent. Our most favorite part! So smart to have huge windows to capture the full effect. Wonderful! The room had everything we needed. Would have been nice to have fridge and microwave in the room. But all of that and more was located in the dining area in the main house. The snacks in the dining area were nice. The outside deck to watch the sunset was wonderful. Very quiet place. Only saw people when we were leaving in the morning. A wonderful place! Having digital check in only was a bit weird to us but worked out. Would be good to have a fan in the room. Room gets warm. Also would be good to be able to shower. The shower nozzle in the tub was not a good thing for us. Would have been a nice thing to have fresh fruit available in the dining area.

Perfect quiet place to get away for a bit. Comfortable, private, and full of charm.

Delightful property in a perfect location.

The room was a lot smaller than what appeared on the website. The bed had a space all around it…mimicking that of a boat. This made climbing in & out of it rather unsafe & cumbersome…. We kept hitting our feet on the corners since the room was so small to walk & the space was tight. I see potential fall risk! However, our stay was very comfortable & the quiet, serene ambience is exactly what we needed to relax. The kitchen downstairs always had water & some small snacks for the visitors. The best part is that the management answered prompt to our questions & were easily available on the phone. Highly recommended this place & will absolutely return when visiting Moss Landing

Additionally, the place for breakfast has all the appliances needed to prepare your own breakfast

This a relatively small B&B-like type of business and may not have all the conveniences of a big hotel but it compensates in charm and amazing experiences with the local flora and fauna. The staff is really really helpful!

(I did trip over a giant nail on the front lawn and fell - so I hope they remove that nail. I let them know.) When you arrive, you have to stand outside and call a remote person who immediately asks you for more money as a deposit against possible damage. Fine. And the facilities are clean and expansive and have a lovely view. But it’s unnerving to come on a long trip to find a locked door. It’s not welcoming. When we had an urgent need for WiFi and the innkeepers’ messages didn’t help, they sent us an 800 number so someone could help us. That’s unacceptable. Your lack of WiFi is not my problem to solve; it’s yours. Otherwise, we had a lovely time. Great views, great suite, comfy beds, etc.

I am 86 years old and in a written request via Expedia asked to have a ground floor room. Before I got there I made the required call to doublecheck with the Inn and learned they put me in an upstairs room and there are an usually amount of old wooden stairs and no elevator that I had to carry my luggage up one stair at a time while hanging o to the railing. Although they had a room available on the ground floor the Inn representative refused to move me. When I got there I learned there is no human on site. Guests have to pick up an old last century phone on the front porch and call to get two codes to unlock an entrance door and your room door. The bed was very comfortable but the bathroom was extremely small with a toddler height toilet that was annoying. And I couldn’t get the cell phone charger to work. Seniors, I advise you to avoid this Inn! Also, Moss Landing has almost become a ghost town. Most shops are out of business and the famous Phil’s Fish Market restaurant in the mariina has moved to Castroville after losing their lease. Looks like city government in this once great tourist town is extra stupid!
