It was exactly as I had hoped. The chateaux needs some TLC, yes, but the bones of the building are beautiful, authentic, and its history were exactly the things that I had hoped for. The period furnishings in the parlors and dining room take you back to a time that you might only dream of. I'm very glad we chose this place to experience and enjoy, and I hope it soon receives the care it needs to shine as it once did. It has great potential. A few simple touches of care, particularly outside, would make it esthetically more pleasing. I think keeping to renting only a few rooms makes it more special and intimate. I would hate to see it run as a hotel because it would lose its charm, but a few improvements could make it more appealing.

Small but real castle stay.

Loved staying in a chateau from the 16th century! Really fun to be a small part of this family’s amazing history in this home.

Accommodating staff. Very clean. Good breakfast. Chateau with intetesting history. Inside charming, furnished with nice antiques and art. Owner's family moved in with many large trucks during our entire stay with no discount offered. Advertised garden view was false, as it was a dirt parking area with moving trucks. Deferred maintenance of property exterior and grounds.

Lovely stay, very nice location directly at the Loire! Watching the animals at the Loire is relaxing. Very good breakfast. Perfect location to visit the Loire. We all felt very comfortable.

Great hosts, wonderful rooms, tasty breakfast. It would be great to eat supper there.

Last minute stay before visiting château de Chambord 10 minutes drive away. Accommodation was beautiful, the hosts, the breakfast, the history, the furniture, the mirrors, the flooring, the knick-knacks, the houseplant, and le chat. Our room was huge, bare feet clean, comfy and quiet. Fresh lining and towels. Lovely shower and bath with amazing water pressure. Gardens face the river with a walk into the village centre along the bank admiring the wildlife. Hosts English is perfect.

A very interesting place with plenty of atmosphere. Beautiful, light rooms which we were shown around and given a description of the history. We had a lovely large room with a four poster. There were a couple of steps to the loo and bidet and the bathroom was on the other side of the room. A warm welcome was given and there was and plenty of parking. You could go for a walk next to the Loire at the front of the building. The location was very near Chateau de Chambord which was beautiful and which we visited the following day. Helpful advice on places to eat in the vicinity. It can be difficult to find restaurants which are open on Sunday and Monday evenings, but we went to Blois and had luck there.

Breakfast excellent and location pretty right on the river Loire. Offered a meal which was great as we were too tired to go out. The chateau is old and a bit run down.Needs remedial work.

Warm welcome by Bill and Maria. Tranquil location on the River Loire. Super supper served up by hosts. Area to access river views is just soil and I’ve seen pictures posted from other reviewers two years ago that show it hasn’t changed. Means mud and soil is walked into the property. Once guests leave the table after breakfast, used crockery and cutlery should be removed and not left to clutter the table. Had to wait until 7 pm for hot water to come on. Seemed strange that at 6.50 pm water is barely warm whereas at 7 pm it’s piping hot. Room seemed a bit damp and it was cold on arrival. Luckily there was a small fan heater in a cupboard that we used.
