It features a seasonal panoramic garden with pool (available for an additional fee). The San Francesco is located at the foot of the hill leading to Sant'Elmo Castle and the Certosa di San Martino Museum. The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Corso Vittorio Emanuele Funicular Railway stop. Rooms here all have views over the bay, with Mount Vesuvius in the background. They are all air conditioned and come with satellite TV, a mini-bar and a private bathroom with shower or bath. Wasn’t too busy, food was very good and rooftop pool staff were excellent Booked a twin room, gave us a double then turned very messy when I told them there was a problem. Given another room at a discounted rate of €200 a night (on top of what we paid already for the original twin room) and told to take it up with booking.com. The room stunk of some sort of dead animal coming from room 41 which I told them about. No solution or discount offered. Tried to speak to reception staff upon checkout about it but told to take it up with booking.com again. Overall, very disappointing and would avoid this hotel

The view from our room was stunning. The decor has been carried out sympathetically with it's past but still has some contemporary features. It really is a unique space. By and large the staff were great, however, we found that some of the younger servers made us feel invisible as they only seemed interested in serving the younger female guests, and left us waiting

Location in wonderful with great views of the bay. Dinner in the terrace restaurant is really good. The chef is excellent. Excellent food also at pool snack bar. Service from all staff is excellent. No free water in the room. Not really the standard of a good hotel. The hotel also needs to have menus suitable for children in the evening. We felt very uncomfortable having dinner next to tables of families where there was nothing suitable on the menu for children to eat with their parents when dining as a family together. Surely the daytime snack menu coukd be extended for children only, in the evening, you obviously would have the food in stock. If you welcome families into the hotel, you must cater for children, otherwise go adults only.

The pool, location and views. The breakfast, the staff across the whole hotel. Water around the pool and espressos were all included. The rooms were rather basic for a 4 star hotel, the beds were small and I’m neither overly tall nor large but they were hard to sleep in. The pillows and mattress were great! There was no water bottles in the room and as it was so hot… it should if been included( even just one bottle per day).

Gorgeous location and views. Shower was extremely poor - very small, broken wall fitting which couldn't hold the shower head properly and didn't drain well
