Locanda Borgo Vecchio

For a stay in Neive, the location is ideal. Of course, because of weekend restrictions on car use in the old part of the city, there is some planning required about access and excursions. However, there are enough attractions in the old city of Neive to provide enjoyment as a pedestrian.

Neive is a very cute village with beautiful views of the Langhe countryside, many spots for wine tasting, and not much else. The staff at Borgo Vecchio Locanda di Charme were very kind and helpful. We stayed in the suite with hot tub which was clean, large, and well-equipped. The balcony with the hot tub has an especially beautiful view at sunset. We found the bed to be too hard. Over the years we have learned that many Italians like a hard bed, but we do not and did not sleep comfortably. We were also disappointed that the hot tub temperature never got hot. At its highest setting it went to 35C/95F. The food from the onsite restaurant was uneven. We had some wonderful hot antipasti but the tajarin with black truffle was sad. We were encouraged to try it by the host, so both got it, but the truffle had no aroma or taste, while adding €15 euro to the price, which was not disclosed when we ordered. Breakfast is served in the room but the quality was poor. The croissant was inexcusably bad—worse than what you get in a typical American grocery store. I did not know you could get such a bad croissant in Italy. One strange experience was the difficulty of getting coffee capsules for the in-room espresso machine. These were not refilled when used up and the staff were reluctant to give us more—apparently the owner rations them? We were surprised to encounter this in a luxury hotel. We enjoyed our stay, mostly due to the kind staff and view, but are unlikely to return. The price for the room was fairly high and not a good value. The staff are doing their best to offer a great experience but the owner seems to be cutting corners to make things work and it shows.

During the winter, being located in the heart of a charming old city is a benfit as it avoids having to travel on foggy or rainy roads to enjoy good dining as there a plenty of good resaurants and wine bars in the historic center of Neive. We were unlucky in that the excellent restaurant located in the hotel was still closed for their winter break.

The property is small, but has an excellent restaurant inside. Given the time of year we visited, this was important as we did not have to venture out much. At the same time, we were able to enjoy the tail end of the truffle season. The breakfasr, served in the room, was very good. We were even able to enjoy properly cooked soft boiled eggs. This is rare in Italy.

Location was great. In beautiful village with great restaurants and short drive to all the wineries in the region.

Angelica is awesome. She arranged us everything we needed - restaurants, bicyckles, winery tour - everything!

Exceptional

Borgo Vecchio Locanda di Charme, was everything we could wish for. We travelled 4 couples and stayed in this wonderful location for 4 nights. Spacious comfortable and clean rooms with terrific views towards the west and the sunset over the Barbaresco vineyards. We were welcomed by sweet and service minded Angelica who really made an effort for us to feel welcome and cared for. She had informed us well about Parking for the car, she arranged e-bikes for us in advance and given us plenty of restaurant recommendations. It meant we did not waste a single moment of our vacation days. Just like we wanted. We had wonderful Italian breakfast varied day by day, felt like visiting family. Neive is a small charming wine village with several high class restaurants 5 minutes from the hotel. We plan as a group to go again and we will stay at the Borgo Vecchio for sure! Nothing to dislike at Borgo Vecchio Locanda di Charme. It is central in Neive, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.

An incredible property in the heart of Neive. It gives you a feeling of a family home the moment you walk in. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The view from the windows and balcony is to die for! The staff is helpful and very friendly. Breakfast is bountiful and offers an interesting selection of local products. Very little negative things can be said about it and they are a matter of opinion or taste and therefore better not said.

Super friendly staff, the suites are spacious and very comfortable, and the view over the rolling hills of Barbaresco is exquisite. Highly recommended. The communication with the staff via the Booking.com app was not good. They never replied to my emails -even though they messaged me first. So in the end we had to call them to get the information we wanted. Also, my partner is vegan, and they struggled a lot with this concept. It would appear they thought that "gluten free" and "vegan" are the same things :)

Great location, fantastic views, friendly and helpful service desk. Not 100% my style, but if like less modern, it is definitely place to go.

This property is not an hotel. For example there is not full time reception. A lovely restaurant is attached but probably better for lunch than dinner. Food was excellent but quite expensive
