Really unique and cool hotel
-
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The amenities are super nice. The room was clean and comfortable and had a balcony. My only complaint which is not the hotels fault and is just the way things are there is the water quality and pressure. I do understand the water situation in La though. Honestly the shower water smelled a bit like sewage or it just had a bad smell. Again I don’t think there’s anything the hotel could do about the quality of city water. I didn’t use the trolly service but with families taking their kids to Universal it’s a great feature. We did some Ubering to places we wanted to go and we were spending time with local friends so they also did a lot of nice things with us in taking us around. I do recommend the hotel and would absolutely stay there again if visiting that area of the city.

Amazing room! Amazing view! Amazing overall!!!!!!

What a gem! This was our first time at the Garland, and we absolutely loved it. They do a great job of making it feel upscale and trendy but also very family friendly. The pool, hot tub and bar were wonderful, the onsite restaurant was amazing, staff was friendly and helpful, the trolly shuttle to Universal was so charming and convenient. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. I honestly can’t think of anything negative. We will definitely be back!

You will have hidden fees upon arrival, no matter how many times the hotel emails you. Make sure you have leeway on your credit card or personal account upon arrival. Make sure you read the T&C for nightly stay and parking.

Perfect location for universal studios and they provide transportation to the park (trolley)
-
Amazing property right near Universal. Convenient trolly to/from Universal every hour. Friendly staff, great pool with nightly family movies, and good food.

Great, cute vintage hotel remodeled

The restaurant is great, the staff delightful. I felt like part of the family.

The only odd thing was the room security latch closed on its own and locked me out of my room. I used the phone to call the front desk to have security help me get back in and they made me walk a couple buildings down and over and then back up to just check my ID to then have them call security to meet me back at the room and wait for them. It was a terrible process. The front desk help wasn’t very apologetic about the room latch failure so it didn’t make me feel like a cared for guest when he said “this is normal and happens all the time” without emotion or concern for me having to go I of my way and paying a lot of money per night to stay there. Not impressed with service of front desk, but I may let that slide and possibly I would stay here again in the future when I’m back in the area. Overall, cute spot worth a try!

Our bathtub had a hole in it, so it was impossible to take a bath. The door kept locking itself from the inside, making it impossible to get into the room; we asked for it to be fixed, but they never did. You aren't allowed to dry laundry on the balcony; they force you to use their paid laundry service. It is impossible to open the walk-in closet door; it is broken. The worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

Very nice hotel! Loved everything about it, except the location. Some of balconies are facing the freeway. Super loud and smells like exhaust. Otherwise, it was great!

Room was clean, pool was fun. Especially at night with the movies they play. This is my 4th time staying here. I travel for work so it’s nice to have a friendly hotel close to fun stuff.

Hotel and rooms have mid century art deco feel to it. The hotel has nice little touches. I love the trolley/shuttle that runs on the hour from opening to closing time to Universal Studios/City Walk. They have a restaurant on site where you can pay for a buffet or eat off the menu. Also, attached to the hotel is a store with souvenirs and misc items for purchase. Lastly, the hotel has a smell of teakwood, which smells really nice.

Well-maintained property.

It was a nice place to stay, but nothing special. The food is good, not great, not special. It was clean and well run. We had no problems at all. The room was good.
-
Great place to stay! Friendly staff, everything you need on site, movie by the pool, clean room, restaurant was delicious! Nothing bad to say.
