The Admiral Hotel/Motel

Great location, very nice staff

This was our second stay at this facility and it DEFINITELY WON’T be our last!! We absolutely LOVED our room!! We arrived in OC a bit early, but decided to park at our hotel & let the front office know. When arriving at the front desk, we were greeted by a very friendly man and woman. Once I told them who we were, they offered to let us check in early. What a nice surprise that was. This allowed me to get us settled in, before heading out to start enjoying our trip. They put us on the first floor, right at the entrance, in a large room, complete with a living area, kitchenette, generous sized bathroom (a rarity for OC motels in the part closer to the inlet) AND a separate bathroom. The bedroom didn’t have a door, but it did allow separate rooms, for couples/families who prefer to watch different things on tv. The room had 2 AC units, a full length mirror (love that), a nice closet area with a shelf and a 3-drawer dresser. The bathroom had a pedestal sink, but they provided adequate storage by placing a nice sized table. Plenty roomy enough for my makeup, hair necessities, etc. Also, the room was recently renovated…so everything was neat, clean and pretty modern. Two TV’s, a microwave, small sink in the kitchenette, mini fridge, laminate flooring and very light and bright inside. The room is also equipped with motion sensing lights, but they can easily be turned off by pressing the switch. They really thought of everything with this room. Because I have medical issues, being on the first floor was such a huge help and saved me a lot of extra walking! Especially with it being so close to the exit/entrance. And only one street off the boards, it’s perfectly situated on 9th Street! For us, this is a prime location…close to Cinnabon (for morning coffee), Thrasher’s Fries & Pickle’s Pub (our favorite spot for orange crushes ). There can be a bit of road noise…but nothing that interrupted sleep or caused any problems. It’s also nothing they can control…but IF I had to nitpick, that’s the only “negative” I could come up with.

The room was very clean with the ability to open the windows to get that nice ocean breeze.

The location was nice. It’s walking distance to the beach and the boardwalk. The room smelled musty, the bathroom smelled like urine. We asked for clean towels and garbage bags at 10 in the morning around noon they said that the towels were still being laundered. We had to go ask again later that evening. The next day I went down and asked for clean towels and he told me to go get the dirty ones first so I had to go all the way back up there and bring him a towel. I also asked for a toilet paper and he was only going to give me one roll for three more days.

Odor of the room was not pleasant, bathroom was not clean and didn’t feel safe.

I liked the location close to boardwalk Didn't like that there was no microwaves past the second floor, had to go to lobby to use a microwave. No coffee pots in room. Just 2 beds, a TV, and a mini fridge.. Overall basic rooms are not worth it.. When booked advertised balcony, microwave in rooms, ect..

Staff were friendly. They don't have an ice machine. The people in the room next to us were loud all night long. Talking and laughing loudly.

The location was everything. It was close to everything we wanted to do Didn’t like the one TV I thought you could put TV in the bedrooms and put the full length mirror on the closet door. Plus you don’t have enough hooks or anything to hang your wash cloth and towels on

The aesthetics of the hotel. The staff was friendly but understaffed and somewhat missing at the desk on occasions. Maintenance staff was not on site around the clock. I had problems with the tv and the bathroom light. None of the staff on site could help. Definitely overpriced for what I received. It appears to be somewhat older in age. It is in need up renovations and upgrades.

The location was perfect. The room layout was excellent very clean. We were able to park, but there was no guarantee from time to time, and in the brochure it said guaranteed off street parking
