Harper House

The place had 4 futons but they did not all fit in the room. It would better fit 3 adults or 2 adults with 2 small children.

For two average sized individuals with big luggage, the one bedroom apartment at Harper House was exceptional. The apartment was very spacious and had most of the amenities you can think of. There was plenty of space to store your luggage, the futons and comforters were very comfortable after a long day out, and every other room served its purpose. We were extremely thankful for the large trash bin, seeing as most accommodations in Japan have a teeny tiny bin that barely fits a bento meal. Not to mention the building owners and cleaning staff, who were super duper helpful with concerns and offered solutions when any arised despite not physically being in the property. We were very happy with our accommodation at Harper House! The apartment does get very hot during the day despite the AC unit and fan. Fortunately, opening the balcony door helped a lot. Our only other problem, which is completely our fault, is not doing a lot of research on the location - which we did not like. The apartment building is located in a quiet residential area populated by the senior community and smokers. There is a nearby train station, but it takes about 20-30 minutes to get to any of the “notable” spots in Osaka. Not to mention the heavy traffic of bicycle riders who don’t ride on the properly labeled bicycle lanes of the sidewalk/street so you’re in constant fear of running into them if you’re not a local. It was very tough commuting through the neighborhood as a result. I also wanted to clarify some notable mentions I saw on the reviews for the property: if you’re a family of four, you probably won’t fit comfortably in the apartments so a different accommodation might be necessary. Japan apartments are very small, and so are Japanese people. The stairways are narrow, so no, there is no elevator and if you’re in the third floor you will have to haul your luggage down on your own. The walls and flooring are not soundproof, so you will hear footsteps, conversations, and even vacuuming through the walls - please keep this in mind if you’re a light sleeper or prefer a more quiet accommodation. Not everyone is having a “party” upstairs, they’re allowed to walk from one corner to another. Read the description of the property, read other reviews, look at the images, calculate square footage, look at Google maps, inquire. It’s a wonderful property but it definitely isn’t for everyone.

For the price, it was great.

No coffee, better locations

The location is very convenient, a short walk away from multiple train lines. There is also a grocery store and convenience stores nearby. The apartment itself was comfortable and as expected based on the pictures. The self-check-in process is streamlined and hassle-free. My group really appreciated that there were traditional garments available to wear. The apartment did not have any convenient place to store luggage. With three travelers (all with bags), the room was a little crowded once all the futons were laid out.

Very quiet neighborhood! Far enough from other stays that it felt like a "local" area. Near two stations that could pretty much get you anywhere. Also the pathway towards it, has lots of convenience stores nearby if a pick me up is needed Will admit after a long day the 8 min walk is rough

The location, interior design, all I can imagine is good. There was some dirt on the air conditioner when I turned it on to heat the room.

The washing machine was a little hard to use but that could have just been us. Drying the clothes was ok. Barely fit 4 futons on the floor but it was alright.

It is located a bit further away from the subway stations and other popular tourist spots. So it might not be convenient to travel back and forth many times in a day.

Top neighbors were a bit noisy, especially at night.

Great location. Close to transit, shops and sights. Nice to be tucked away from tourist areas, yet accessible to the action. Very clean, nice apartment.

Very clean and good location. Easy seamless check-in. Lovely traditional Japanese interior. Everything you needed was there. Very good instructions on how to use amenities.

I loved the location and how clean the area was. It was outside of Osaka central and had a neighborhood feel. It is a bit smaller than the pictures or feature described. I would have included better direction as to how to get there.

Our stay at Harper House was lovely. The room was big enough for my husband, myself and our toddler to walk around. There was a small kitchenette, a full bathroom, a living area and our bedroom. There was only a small rack to hang up our clothes, but we only stayed in Osaka for two days so it really wasn’t needed. The hotel is across the street from a grocery store. There are plenty of convenience stores around the hotel if needed. The train station is only about 10 min walk from the hotel which was really convenient and made getting around easy, especially with our toddler. The walls are a little thin and we could hear people walking around in the room above us.
