The room was stylish and well-appointed given the small size. The staff was friendly but not pushy or too in-your-face. I like the proximity to Gare de Lyon -- close enough for convenience but not so close that it was noisy. While the rooms were nicely appointed, it did feel like they were "making chicken salad out of chicken s**t." The rooms were tiny even by European standards, and the walls were paper thin. I was able to hear every person coming and going in the hallway, every door open and close. Also, one night I was awaken by some "vigorous romantic thumping" from the room above me. It is Paris, so I don't fault them. I just wished that I didn't have to hear them.

Great location near Gare du Lyon station, perfect for early train. Comfy and modern rooms, bathroom amenities, sustainable bedroom slippers. Small room size and door - not the easiest to navigate if you have big luggages.

The bedroom was air conditioned The provision to squeeze oranges for juice at breakfast was great It was convenient for the Gare de Lyon When we arrived after 4pm we were given keys but although the sheets had been changed the room had not been cleaned and the bathroom/wc was disgusting. We returned to reception and were told it would be done, we were told we could wait in the restaurant area but that was mostly full of people using their laptops. Effectively we had to go out. When we returned the room smelt very very strongly of cleaning fluid, presumably to prove it had been cleaned. Our “superior” room was on the fifth floor. It was very small. The roof trusses meant that in much of the room there was no standing room and one side of the bed was almost impossible to get into. Almost no space to open suitcases etc. The shower room was incredibly narrow and hard to move around. There was one tiny claustrophobic lift for the whole hotel and it was often being used by housekeeping to move linen. Sometimes it took many minutes to get up to the room. The Riesner is not what one would expect for a 4 star hotel. The price paid did not reflect the standard of the accommodation.
