Very cool host, nice room, free good food, perfect location

Well, Arthur and Howie put a lot of energy to make everybody fell like home. The best reception ever!

I liked that the team managing Cocoa Mews is super attentive. They go all out to make sure that the guests feel welcomed, gets help, gets acquainted with the local culture (esp. food) and feels like it's home. It was superb! Nothing much to not like! Everything was so great!

We loved the cheerful, helpful staff. Excellent location. I don’t mind, but I don’t like sharing a bathroom.

I loved everything about this hostel! The rooms are very simple but the bed and pillows are comfortable. Everything was amazing I have no negative comments! The staff was amazing and so caring. The best experience I had in Malaysia :)

The place was amazing!!! We had a great time. The hosts Howie and Amit were AWESOME! They were very kind and helpful suggesting places to go and foods to eat. Every little thing that we might need had been thought of and provided....And then some. Not to forget the fun we had with the cats. Both Garfield and Bobby were a joy to watch. I would visit Malaysia again just to stay at Cocoa Mews. It was not just the best place to stay in Malaysia....It was home. There is nothing not to like.

Position, staff! Breakfast and free food drinks during the day. Price Not superquite, but manageable

Great hostel, with a very involved management. The family room was comfortable with a huge balcony including a sink. The common area has a fully stocked kitchen and the showers. Complimentary breakfast is excellent and different every day.

Our room was on the top floor and bathhrooms were on the lower. Our room faced towards the mosque that can of course wake you if you're a light sleeper.

Howie, Art and the team are so friendly and helpful. Perfect location. You're invited to join a WhatsApp group with other people staying there so you can share info and recommendations. Bobbi and Garfield the cats are a hilarious treat to keep you entertained The only thing I would change is I would request a room with windows. I'm sure the boys would have accommodated me if I'd asked.

Great place, great value. The host is amazing man, who gives lots of directions around, tips and really wants his guests to feel the town. There were looots of snacks for free around, coffee, tea, cocoa and every morning after 9 complimentary local homemade breakfast. Also lots of free bread and spreads to make toast. Room was clean and comfortable. There were only 2 toilets and 2 showers for 13 rooms to share - it is a heritage house, so bot surprising, but take into account. Also sexond floor did not have any toilets or showers, had to go all the way downstairs. Also some rooms dont have windows (ours did not) and if it is important to you, check.

- The staff were super nice, and super informative! Just ask about something and you’ll be showered with information lol. - I really liked how equipped the kitchen is and how many things they offer for free, especially food, cookies and fruits, looked like a heaven for backpackers! - The AC was great! - How far the bathrooms are, being located in a different floor as mine was a hassle. There are two bathrooms, one of them is a shower also, and another separate shower, and they are for everyone staying there and for both genders. - The layout of the place in general, but the people and the staff make up for that.

Bed is a bit tooo soft?

The hosts Howie and Arthur were lovely and SO accommodating. I have never felt so welcome at a hostel and felt included so quickly. We were put in a group chat instantly and updated with all the best places to visit and any events going on in the local area. The best hosts!! I think the only thing that could be improved is the toilet rooms could do with a deeper clean.

This is my favorite place I've stayed at so far. The guesthouse is very homey and the staff make you feel like family but aren't too much in your face. The cats are the cherry on top of the cake, making me feel 100% at home.

An exceptional stay in the perfect neighbourhood. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming and the breakfasts are awesome… always different.

The staff was really helpful and they provide nice, local breakfast and snacks. The location is also really good. The place is cozy and has a good atmosphere. I'd consider it a fair backpacker option for a short term stay. The facility is a little bit dusty, spider's webs with dead bugs on walls, falling off pieces of furniture and decoration etc. The AC in my room was old and loud. Bad internet connection and that was a serious issue for me. Overfed cats. I have some doubs about the standard of cleaningness in general.
