Karen and Allison were so kind and welcoming throughout my stay. They were incredibly accommodating and even looked after my luggage before check-in and after check-out while I spent the day hiking, which I really appreciated. The guest house was spotlessly clean, cosy and very comfortable, and the cooked breakfast was delicious. It's also in a great location for exploring Penrith and the Lake District. I would stay here again for sure. N/A

Everything. The fruit salad in the morning was delicious as was the cooked breakfast. Bed was so comfortable and the property was so clean. The hosts were perfect very friendly without being intrusive. Communication before visit was ideal and I was able to check in early. Little sweet treats superb Nothing.

Alison & Karen the proprietors were excellent hosts went above & beyond to please , very personable, they have an immaculate guest house, very friendly, excellent breakfast, very good value for money, I can highly recommend The Blue Swallow guest house. There was NOTHING I didn’t like, it was an excellent choice staying at The Blue Swallow Gues House, would definitely stay there again.

The guest house was a delight from check-in until the last delicious breakfast. I highly recommend it for the location, access to transportation and, of course, the hosts.

We had such a lovely two-night stay here during our trip to the Lake District. The guest house itself is incredibly charming and cosy, and our room was spotlessly clean, tidy and very comfortable. Karen and Allison were wonderful hosts — both so welcoming, accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. They were especially helpful with directions and made us feel very well looked after. The complimentary brownies and Scottish tablet in our room were such a thoughtful touch and absolutely delicious! Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and was also really lovely. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and really appreciated all the little details that made the experience feel so warm and personal. We would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Lake District. Nothing at all.

The staffs were very friendly and cheerful.

The location was great and we could walk into town for restaurants etc. Being on a main road & by a set of traffic lights it was a little noisy. The breakfasts were excellent and there was plenty of choice. The owners were so friendly, kind, and helpful.

My stay was exceptional and exceeded expectations. The room was immaculate, so comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was perfect and I left feeling full and well rested. Great attention to detail makes this a really delightful stay with such a warm and friendly welcome. Everything was really great.

The breakfast was first-rate and served with attentiveness and courtesy. A lovely touch was the fresh fruit - and a really good selection - served as an aside with my porridge. As an old man (I'm heading for 90) the walk to their location from the railway station was a bit of a stretch for me. But I have to say they offered to run me back there when my stay was over, a lovely thought.

Very friendly and approachable hosts that work very hard for their guests with nothing being too much trouble if you need anything. Guest house was quiet at night. Everything was clean and up to standard. Free cooked breakfast is an added bonus for the price as most places charge extra for breakfast. Mattress was a bit too hard for me to sleep on but that's just a personal issue otherwise everything else is fine.

Very central to Penrith On a busy road

Communication from hosts was fantastic, on arrival and throughout our stay incredibly friendly and welcoming. Went above and beyond to accommodate us and any requests we had! They are extremely attentive paying extra attention to all the small details that make your stay all the more special. Providing home baked treats and a detailed list of ingredients for those with dietary requirements. There was a huge variety at breakfast to choose from, especially for those with intolerances like myself, which I haven’t experienced before! Our room was completely spotless, very high standards of cleanliness. Thank you :) It is a great location, but can be a little noisy with traffic outside. Although hosts provide earbuds and it doesn’t impact sleep!

Karen and Allison are lovely host, they go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. The place is spotless and the bed is so comfy. The breakfast was lovely and fresh, served in a lovely breakfast room. Loved the little treats when we arrived, also when we where leaving. Great location, nice little town and easy access by bus to the Lakes. Bit of road noise where our room was but didn't really bother us, wouldn't put us off staying again.

This guest house sets the bar very high for any other guest house and hotels, globally really. Karen and Alison make sure that your stay will be amazing and you will feel more welcome than in your own family house. Breakfasts are great, the rooms are clean and have everything you need, including home baked goods to restore your energy after a hike. Bus stop to many hiking spots is just a short walk away, pub and restaurants around, as well as shops. K&A gave us very useful tips and suggestions on places to eat and how to get around Penrith. I will be coming back because of the cleanliness of the rooms, location, great food, helpfulness of the hosts and the value for money.

Great to find a place with single en-suite rooms when travelling with my son. The lovely friendly welcome from Alison and Karen and their gorgeous friendly collie. They bent over backwards to help us and gave so much friendly advice on places to eat and things to do or see whilst there, sadly we were only there for one night but would happily have stayed much longer. We had to leave early in the morning at 6.30am and they so kindly made us a picnic breakfast and juice to go and got up to say goodbye; above and beyond on a Sunday morning! Thank you. I will definitely return. Theres a yard at the back which can be noisy, where people chatting into the night can keep you up as there’s no sound buffer, it could do with a tree or something to diffuse the banter!

Everything about this guesthouse is just amazing. We have just returned from 2 nights here as we were taking part in the trek26 for charity. Karen and Alison were just so lovely and welcoming and made you feel right at home from the minute we arrived. Cannot fault the rooms at all, they are clean, tidy and have everything you need and more, also the beds are super comfy. There is a lot of choice for breakfast and the service was a 10-10, nothing was too much trouble. Our visit was made even better by cuddles from their pet dog bunty. It was lovely coming back and her tail was wagging happy to see you. A house is not a home without a dog. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you again Alison and Karen ☺️ N/a
