I faced problems with the room service, they don’t clean the rooms properly, I contacted them through email and yet nothing changed, I have the photos of their room service.

Super helpful check-in process! As we arrived late, 10:30pm, the staff was nice to leave the keys in the locker and they reached us on the phone, booking and even left a note on the door ! Probably the best breakfast we had in Austria on the whole trip. The view from the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, from cable cars to paragliding landing on the green lot next door to cow smell and alpine panorama. Also I have to say the staff is very responsive and willing to fix any issue that you might have. First there was a hard smell in the toilet closet that even with an ask to the hotel to clean it didn’t go away! Second, we didn’t have hot water for 2 days, on the 2nd day, we were offered an additional room to use it for showering. And 3rd, the lack of air conditioning! This is a modern, relatively new facility to miss this basic need in nowadays conditions. If you are on the 2nd floor and face the front of the hotel, the sun is heating up your room all day long. 4th - the checking of the Tiktok feed on the restaurant patio with sound on should be controlled! Unless is a cow sound, I would not like to hear anything else while I’m enjoying a quality breakfast! This is not a property issue, more of a type of clientele !

We had a fantastic stay at Sonja Alpine Resort and felt that it offered excellent value for money. The quality of the accommodation, the facilities, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. The location is truly exceptional. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and peaceful nature, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. The atmosphere is quiet, refreshing, and unforgettable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything was well organized throughout our stay. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return in the future. I highly recommend Sonja Alpine Resort to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing mountain getaway. The only suggestion I would make is to consider offering a luggage assistance service. Since guests often arrive with heavy suitcases and some rooms require a bit of walking, having staff help transport luggage from the car to the room would make the experience even more comfortable and elevate the level of service.

    2. Very nice spa and pool facility, with no extra charge 1. There's a railway with passing trains right across the hotel border, making noise as of 6 AM 2. The air conditioning didn't work during our stay (in June) and the room was very hot at night. We had to sleep with the balcony door open to get some cool air which didn't feel safe

Sonja was out Perfect getaway destination for 4 nights in early June with two adults and two kids, 5 and 12. Breakfast is just fantastic, better than anything I‘ve ever seen (and I‘ve been places!). Free big parking just outside the main door, with adjacent off-road park for radio-controlled cars - we had a lot of fun driving those with kids! Location!! Very cool Lokalbahn (local railway) stop just 50 meters apart - we started our first morning with an awesome trip aboard the Nostalgie steam-train on Thursday. Then, Maisi Flitzer is just 3 mins by car away - pretty cool summer alpine rollercoaster, safe enough for kids to ride together on one bob without the parents. Then, Tauern-spa - a large aqua-park with indoor and outdoor facilities and an infinity pool on the roof with the view on mountains. Then, a 1 mile long Motorik Fun line of climbing and playing equipment for kids and adults - a lot of fun (but take enough water and snacks with you). And of course, hiking trails along the valley of Kaprun - it’s definitely worth it, starting with the gorge trail above the roaring waterfalls. And gondolas to the glacier, with lots of paths to have an awesome hike downwards with kids, looking for gophers (we found 4). For evening night out I can recommend the restaurant in the adjacent village of Fürth (10 mins walk max, and it was open till 23:00 daily). Kitchen in the room allowed us to have a nice snack anytime. The room is big, very well sound-proofed, with very comfy bed in the bedroom and a large sofa in the living room for kids. We didn’t felt tight at all with our family of four. The pool at the top floor - small, but fun for a short swim with kids, with a stunning view to mountains and valley, and a sun terrace outside. They have a couple of saunas as well. None, it was perfect

Location and breakfast Insects in the WC and housekeeping wasn’t okay

  • Engine customer May 2026

Unfortunately, any potential positives of the location were completely overshadowed by the unacceptable lack of hygiene and the constant noise disruptions throughout our stay. For a stay costing €2400 for 4 nights, the conditions were appalling. The property is pet-friendly, but clearly not pet-cleaned; the hallways were covered in what appeared to be animal urine and excrement stains. Our room was equally bad, with visible stains on the pillows and bedding, and thick dust everywhere. To make matters worse, the noise was relentless. Our balcony was directly above train tracks, with loud trains running from 7:00 AM until midnight. Internally, the thin walls meant we had to listen to the neighbor’s dog barking incessantly all day and night. It was impossible to get any rest.

Views Breakfast Bed is not comfortable at all

  • Engine customer May 2026

The view from the balcony is adorable watching the green fields and the mountains. The design separation of toilet and bathroom. When you finish from the toilet you have go to another room/ bathroom to wash your hand.

Very good hotel and they have an amazing breakfast and I really recommend this hotel

  • Engine customer Mar 2026

The property feels newly refurbished, from the room decor to the spa and wellness area. The breakfast was delightful, staff are welcoming and friendly! The location is good distance both to the town of Kaprun but also to the main road for the ski resort (Kitzsteinhorn). I especially enjoyed the wellness area, pool and saunas are well maintained and very clean! The Junior Suite was spacious and the windows are well insulated keeping out noise and cold. Wifi works great as well, so if you are combining work and leisure this will be a perfect choice (there is also a relatively large desk space in the room). I really liked the wood/laminate flooring in the Junior Suite felt very comfortable to walk on it! I will be back if I go skiing again in Kitzsteinhorn! The local railway track was directly outside my window and the room overlooked close neighbours. Otherwise, I had a great stay and would recommend Sonja hotel as it lives up to 4-star expectations.

The breakfast is good with a lot of options. The room is very clean and huge for 2 people, but it would be good to have more storages. The bed is comfy. The ski locker has enough space up to four pairs of booths and two snowboards. The train station is next to the hotel, so the noise could bother you if you are a light sleeper. The bus station is 100m from the hotel, but be prepared that sometimes you can't hop on because the bus is already full.

Sonja Alpine Resort in Kaprun made a fantastic impression on us – and this was our second year in a row staying there. Everything is done right, but at the same time the place feels relaxed and unpretentious. Breakfasts are outstanding, with a huge selection and really great quality. There’s something for everyone and everything tastes fresh and delicious. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean, with a kitchenette, which is a big plus. After a full day, the wellness area is perfect for unwinding – the pool, saunas, and calm atmosphere are exactly what you need. The location is excellent, and the view of the glacier is amazing, especially in the morning. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always welcoming and smiling. Coming back for a second year says it all. This is definitely a place we love returning to and can highly recommend.
