Grotta Palazzese Beach Hotel

The beach is beautiful but it is not private to the hotel itself. It is shared with a beach club open to the public. So, there were hundreds of kids and families from the outside sharing the beach during our stay. We didn't mind it much, but there was a lot of kid screaming, ball playing and not as quiet as we were expecting.

The room was spacious and clean Breakfast served mouldy fruit No information so was not aware we could get eggs till last day and when we ordered them we were only people in restaurant asked 3 times and still never got them Restaurant for dinner is terrible - 40 min to get someone to even come and get a drink order and we were 2 of 4 people in entire restaurant No bar anywhere No service at beach like website states Should be a shuttle service to town as it’s out of the way and very expensive coming back and fourth and due to the lack of food and drinks at property we are left with no choice but to leave Room service take your towels that you hang up to re use at night and don’t replace so in morning you go to shower and have no towels Mini bar doesn’t get restocked Bins don’t get emptied each time they come in just randomly Promised front row beach seats as in a suite which we didn’t get

Great view, friendly staff. Breakfast was okay. No pool. Small room with a really bad bathroom- shower flooded, no space for any toiletries. Ants on the floor in bedroom. No bar/chill area other than the beach. Beach area was nice but not private was basically right next to a beach club not full use of the beach like it looks like from the photos. No facilities what so ever, not great having a baby. No where to hide from the heat except room and rooms where poor and we didn’t even have a view. The only good rooms are the suites which are even more expensive.

It is expensive! And, we were not aware that the Grotta Palezzese and the Grotta Palezzese Beach hotel are in 2 different locations. If you make dinner reservations at the restaurant, do be aware that you need to either drive or take the hotel shuttle if staying at the beach hotel.

very expensive for the location and lack of facilties eg no pool no gym zero wifi the whole time i was there and no sorry no free drink nothing to appolgies, all i got was sorry its not our problem when i asked the front desk

Passable

My only word of caution, I fell. I'm clumsy so it's understandable, however, my husband isn't and he fell too. The beautiful tile outside of the restaurant can mess with your eyes. Becareful not to miss the step going down. ***I got mud on me when I fell and the staff showed genuine concern and had my clothing cleaned for me and didn't charge me at all. The grounds are safe, however, if you are clumsy like me, please watch your step***

The breakfast selections were outstanding Our room was in a courtyard and we had no terrace or open space off our room.

Exceptional

The bed was decent The shower head was old and didn’t work properly. There were no bathing clothes. The “restaurant” was a room with tables and no decorations. Felt like it was just thrown together.

The breakfast is amazing and a huge selection. The location overlooking the sea and on its own private beach is incredible. I loved the staff.

Hotel and location was beatifuel and clean I didnf like short staff and they ask us sezlong and towel 200 euros a day this crazy they shows picture a nice restaurant with them but when u ask where is the restaurant they say another hotel has it it means family business hotel for this money it not wort it to stay in this hotel and everone like me was complaying a lot of proplemmm

Beautiful resort, spotless very pleasant staff. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. No shuttle into Polignano a Mare so expect to pay 15Euros each way for a Tuk Tuk. They aren’t transparent about the cost of using their beach located directly in front of the hotel. It’s 100 Euros per person per day which is totally ridiculous. They had four people on the beach during low season doing one persons job. The beach towels come wrapped in plastic which is horrible for the environment. If they are going to charge extra to use their beach maybe they should change the name of the hotel to Grotta Palazzese Hotel and optional Beach Club. And list the price on booking instead of telling people when they get there otherwise it seems shady.

The property was beautiful. Some of the staff were lovely. Bianca in particular was very sweet, friendly and helpful. The view and beach was amazing and the breakfast very generous. The hidden costs for using the beach were outrageously $, the beach staff were not attentive. Nothing about what was included or not was explained and the worst part was being completely ripped off at the end, I asked for a taxi, was refused a taxi option by the front desk and insisted a driver who changed me DOUBLE the direct fare to go where I had to go which was 30 min drive. I knew it was wrong but was bullied into it with no other choices given. Spoiled everything for me.
