Excellent booking experience! The reservation process was simple, fast, and reliable. Everything was clearly explained, and the hotel matched the description perfectly. I would definitely use this service again

Rooftop wine and cheese hour with live music was such a sweet touch. Received a great recommendation from the front desk for a coffee shop/cocktail bar around the perfect. Rooms were large and well-appointed and quiet. Parking is reasonable adn secure in the garage under the hotel, though only suitable for smaller cars. Loved our stay!

The room has an odor to it but other than that it was ok. We left the window open.

The hotel has a very vintage charm to it and we had wonderful stay. The beds are super comfortable and we had some good sleep. The location is great for walking around downtown Portland.

-Amazing staff -Parking was nearly $30 less a day than most other hotels in the area -Location was great -Everything that could be cleaned by housekeeping was immaculate - Amazing water pressure in the shower - Lots of pillows provided Now the cons: - Walls are paper thin. Our bedroom shared a wall with the main hallway outside the elevator and we could hear every single time the door open or closed. Not to mention conversations, TV’s, etc. - There was a massive stain on the carpet in the master suite we stayed in. It wasn’t just unsightly, but you could also feel the grime if you happened to walk over it on bare feet. Needless to say, that mistake only happened once. - Everything was pretty worn out. The elevator doors wouldn’t always open when it got to your floor. The carpets everywhere had seen better days. Dirty grout in the shower. The sink handles wouldn’t work properly- If you tried to turn the handle to shut the water off, it wouldn’t stop turning. It would basically crash into the backsplash and you’d have to turn it back towards you until it hit the off position. All in all, this is a three star hotel with a four star price tag mostly due to its location. Not really worth the $600 I paid for a weekend in my opinion, but I’ve definitely stayed at worst hotels.

    Wonderful location and view

It’s an older building in an old part of town that has a lot of shopping and a lot of dining near it. Very centrally located. But this part of town is also where there are a couple of transitional housing apartments. I never felt unsafe staying at the Mark Spencer, but the streets are really filthy in the surrounding blocks around the hotel. It’s an odd dichotomy. There are high end furniture and clothing stores all around while addicts are getting their groove on the corners of the block. This is a pet friendly hotel so our room, though cleaned before we arrived smelled of dog the whole time we were there. The upholstered furniture had stains and so did our linens. Room is spacious and well appointed having a refrigerator and a microwave. The shelving in the bathroom was dirty and the shampoo and soap dispensers were caked with dried conditioner and all empty. The shower, though roomy and had wonderful water pressure had mildew. Sink in the bathroom was slow to drain. The best part of our stay was the staff. They were all very friendly and wanted to help you get to know Portland. If you drive in and have a small car, call ahead and they will generously save a parking pass for you in the underground garage if a space is available. I personally wouldn’t stay here again. I’ve been to several three star hotels that take better care of cleaning their rooms. But you cannot beat the location or the staff.

    Exceptional

Nice clean room and excellent staff. It would have been nice if coffee was in the room. You had to ask for pods at the front desk. They did have free coffee in the lobby, but you had to be reasonably presentable to go down in the morning. Not always an option.

The drain for the shower was ridiculous. The noise from the street was very audible in room 108. It had a great location and ease of walking for things to eat and do. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall I would go back but hope for a different room. For real though that shower drain is lame…
