Overall we had a good stay. My advice to people renting from other countries is to ensure you are watching the machine when paying for your room. I was charged a 5% fee by the credit card machine used. Typically when traveling, I was offered the option of Euros or USDs and then if I would accept the conversion fee. The staff pressed these buttons for me without asking my preferences and a 5% fee was added to my bill. Unfortunately my money was not refunded. Otherwise, it was an overall good stay and the hotel is well represented in other reviews.

Lovely staff, good size room, wonderful sea view, more than adequate breakfast, would recommend.

Air conditioning unit worked but was weak.

Hotel Portofoz has a lovely water view of the sea; a close walk to the beach and is also very close to the city center by bus. Easy access to restaurants, shopping and grocery/supermarket. Hotelier Jorge was very welcoming, accommodated our late check-in at close to midnight with a smile and helped my elderly mother with her luggage. Lovely nightcap of port and fascinating conversation on our last night. Jorge personally made up a complimentary continental breakfast tray of bread, cheese, jam, butter and teas for our early pre-dawn morning departure. Superb attentiveness to the little details!

I want to start by saying the staff at the hotel were some of the nicest people working in a hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. Also, the location was superb. We could see the ocean from our balcony and it was easy to walk to many restaurants and shops or take public transport to other areas. The breakfast was generous. However, the building and room were super dated and at one point we had ants. If we were traveling as a couple, maybe it would have worked better, but we were with our two large teens, and the trundle bed just wasn't comfortable for adult-sized people. Plus, our bed was hard.

Bad Wifi and bad lighting

Nice people, good breakfast and clean. Very noisy. Dog barked at night and construction on a building very close. No air conditioning in our room so had to have door and window open at night. After the first night I asked for a fan and that helped greatly.

Views of the river/ocean! Clean, quiet, great host! That we had to leave after only one night!!

It was near beautiful ocean walks. My room was lovely with a balcony and fantastic bathtub and shower. Breakfast was ample. The staff were warm, wonderful and helpful.

Beautiful room with incredible views of the ocean! Hosts were accommodating in letting me check-in early, which I really appreciated. When Fatima heard I had a super early morning flight the next day she went out if her way to pack me a breakfast bag full of food to take to the airport. I truly cannot say enough about this place, it was exactly what I needed on my last night in Porto! Perfect for Camino walkers, btw.

We was there as family with kids. Best view on the ocean. Very good stuff George and Fatima are the best! Very cosy very comfortable. Very warm, 2 electric heaters in the room and they turned it on in advance. Breakfast simple but also nice, we are like it.

Clean room, friendly staff, location by the seaside. Facilities working and clean. The room looked a little dark, breakfast included but not a lot of options.
-
The location, a few meters away from the beach, and restaurants/shops A few kilometers away from the tramway who goes to porto center The staff and the owner are very friendly! I highly recommend this place! I'll be back for sure! Nothing
