Best Western Shalimar Praia Hotel

Beautiful Pool area.

The breakfast spread was awesome Would be awesome if you could have a guidebook in english and portuguese that explain different attractions in the area. We signed up for a trip out to recife de fora, but it was difficult to understand the attraction, the schedule, and the costs. we asked questions via whatsapp but did not get a response. We ended up signing up but went to the wrong location and almost missed the boat and it was not clear how payment worked. Also, although the local government started to cleanup the area after we arrived and they did invest in pretty lights for Christmas, in general they do not have a very good periodic maintenance program for common areas in the town and nearby and sufficient people keeping things repaired and clean. The sidewalks near the hotel were often cracked or broken. The park across the street with a beautiful view of the ocean was overgrown with weeds rather than well taken care of. The paint used in common areas was often very chipped and low quality. The sidewalks were sometimes uneven and easy to trip on at night. The roads had many potholes that remained unrepaired. The roads were often very uneven. We saw a lot of people just throw trash in the street like they did not care. There was a lot of trash around and very limited trash cans. There were many speed bumps but many were not painted clearly yellow and did not have signs so it was easy to miss them. Streets were not consistently well lit at night and did not always feel very safe. It was difficult to safely cross the road (maybe a stop light or a pedestrian light would help). Maybe if the hotels/restaurants/businesses in the area met with the local government they could find a way to get the area more ready and welcoming and safe for tourists? It is such a beautiful area. It just needs to be taken care of a little better.

On rainy days it would be good to have swimming pools a little hotter.

A delightful stay!

Nice breakfast and spacious room Broken air conditioning at 2am at my arrival! This was resolved by putting me in another room But the reception staff was very disrespectful & disappointing! At my check out I said that I’ve arrived at 2am and didn’t consume anything at the room! They asked me to wait & sent someone to check the room! Then said I have consumed 2 waters and wanted to charge me! But didn’t I say “I didn’t consume anything!?” Asked me to wait again and sent the guy again to the room! Totally ridiculous approach and not a single apology! I didn’t stay in a high price hotel to steal 2 bottles of water! Totally unacceptable

The employees are amazingly, receptive and kind.

Pool area is outstanding

I found the location to be very convenient, as it's close to both downtown and the airport. The room was spacious, and the breakfast was quite good, especially the tapioca. The pool area is really lovely. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay for one night, which meant I missed out on fully enjoying the hotel’s amenities. kinda costly

Convenient location to Airport

It was a one night stay so we wanted something close to airport. Located very close to the main part of the nightlife area without the noise. Check in staff super friendly and helpful. Pretty much empty but due to low season. A bid dated. No elevator which was ok for us but maybe older people or larger families would struggle to transport baggage.

The location was good Bad smell in the bathroom. I asked to change the room ….They offered a downgrade room. The showers door did not close. So to take a shower you must hold the door with one hand. This is unacceptable for a Best Western hotel

Its relatively close to the center. The airport pick-up didn’t show.
