Santo Stefano

Very conveniently located in the old part of town within walking distance to all the sights, restaurants and bars. The accommodation is family owned and run. The host met us at the door when we arrived and was very helpful with carrying luggage, suggesting restaurants, etc. They also serve a huge breakfast which would have included cooked food if we wanted. The room was very comfortable and there was a small balcony to admire the view over the rooftops. Being in the old town there is no vehicle access. The closest parking was on the street about 200m away. There are several rooms in the property and we were given one on the top (third) floor (possibly for the view) which meant climbing 42 small steep steps. You may be able to request a room on one of the lower floors.

Speaking of breakfast - it was phenomenal. Fresh local ingredients and fruits, great variety, delicious orange juice, just squeezed for you, the homemade cake. For a clean freak like me, it was such a pleasant surprise to see a place which matches my hygiene standards (and this happens rarely, even with the very high end hotels). It’s a small BnB, we got the whole floor, which was the room and the bathroom. The bathroom was actually a whole large room, new and wonderfully decorated - see my photos. We were very impressed by the attention to the detail, the charm, the high end finishes, the two Juliette balconies with strawberries. The location is also great, in the historic center walking zone, but also just a min from the road, so you don’t have to carry the suitcases far. Putignano is a charming little town with an easy access to the more touristy locations. Ask for recommendations and the hosts are going to be happy to share them. Parking is easy and free on some streets around. We’ll definitely be back, this was the best place we stayed during our trip around all Southern Italy and the Amalfi coast. Thank you, Marilena and Francesco! Everything was great, the photos don’t even do justice. The place is nicely renovated, but an old building, so it has a rather steep stairs. It’s something to consider if you have mobility issues.

We really liked Santo Stefano B&B Putignano. The hosts were extremely kind, the rooms were well heated (it was cold days in April) and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was very charming and nice, every morning we woke up in a good mood. The house and its location in the old part of the town are extremely authentic. It’s not a remark, but it’s important to know: some rooms are reached by steep stairs. Parking is free very close - public parking or on the street. In April we had no problem with parking, but maybe during the busier season it will be more difficult. We like everything!

The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful. I recommend it to everyone who wants to relax in one of the smaller towns in Puglia.

Charming, historic accommodation in Putignano, ideal to see the city and also for a trip to the sea (Polignano a Mare and Monopoli). Lovely hosts who live upstairs. Breakfast was held in their dining room and was delicious and with a lot of options. Would definitely recommend to stay here! There was no window in our room, but the door had mosquito nets and a curtain to provide fresh air and privacy.

Quiet top-floor room with a little balcony though we didn't get to enjoy it, but air-conditioning together with a fan saved us from the heatwave so that was good. Wonderful spread for breakfast. Great location for wandering the old town. We struggled a little bit with English, but that's absolutely forgivable (maybe even on us for not checking) and we got by just fine.
