Bed was quite squeaky getting into the top bunk, kitchen was a bit small for the amount of beds but it wasn't a huge deal.

I lucked out and got a room on the 3rd floor with a giant window facing the lake. We had an exceptional stay, especially for the price and compared to how expensive other hotels are in Queenstown. Cannot recommend this hostel enough, especially if you book a private room! 10/10 recommend, this was my favorite stay of our entire trip to NZ.

I had just found out some serious medical prognosis and I rung them to discuss my options as I no longer could climb a ladder. I spoke to George who was compassion and kind in his response , following policies was fair but put my mind at ease. I found him to be professional, honest and thoughtful. When I turned up late arrival he and his team had gone to special efforts to make my stay comfortable. I was surprised after traveling in Europe how clean the bathroom and kitchen were. I was impressed. I also found the kitchen to be fully tidy clean and equipped and the dining area a great hang out and I met some wonderful humans. The staff were so helpful and professional.I really appreciated the lifts as an option. That there was a coffee shop next door and it’s right next to the bus stop for intercity buses. The staff really were so helpful and friendly. That I didn’t know how many bathrooms were on each floor. I thought there was only one. But that was because I arrived after reception closed.

Everything! The staff were great. Very social and fun. I made friends with all of my roomies. The kitchen area felt homely and was clean. Nothing to complain about.

Location could not be better for Queenstown as you are 5-10 minute walk from basically all city facilities. Beds are really modern and have good privacy. Bathrooms were basically spotless every time I used them. Front desk was also very considerate, even letting me re-enter my room after I checked out as I forgot something. Also, the bus stop for most of the scenic tours is right out front. Walls are thin, so if some events they are holding are running past their time slot, it is quite loud. My second issue is about hostel etiquette that was not enforced as my bed was "taken" by the time returned later in the day. If what staff said was true, if I placed my stuff on a bed, it should be mine, but someone threw my stuff out and "took" my bed. I was too tired to care and make a fuss, but was severely irked throughout my trip.

    - Staff were friendly and helpful. - Good luggage storage policies. - Well-equipped kitchen. - Nice storage space under each bed (can be locked). - Perfect central location. - WiFi worked (not super fast due to many people connecting). - Socket next to the bed. - Sometimes bathrooms lacked supplies (toilet paper, soap). - Lounge was a bit messy most of the time. - There's 1 hairdryer in the lounge (odd place to have it, not enough for 60 guests). - Price is expensive for a bunk bed in a 6-bed dorm. - Only place to do a bit of work is in the kitchen (not feasible a lot of the time). There's desk in the lounge but it has a desktop computer on it, so no room to put a laptop. - Had a reading light in my bunk but it didn't work.

Just the location. Review for Adventure Q2 Hostel – A Deeply Disheartening Experience My experience at this hostel was profoundly disappointing. Upon arrival, I was received not with hospitality, but with suspicion—treated more like a burden or an intruder than a paying guest. The staff member who checked me in was cold, dismissive, and lacked the basic courtesy one would expect from someone in a welcoming role. Rather than being asked, I was ordered—spoken to as if I were receiving charity, not offering my support as a traveler. I was compelled to complete a personal questionnaire without prior explanation or consent. This felt invasive and coercive, especially considering that no other accommodation across New Zealand had required such intrusive information. The legality and ethics of this practice are questionable at best. What disturbed me most, however, was the behavior that followed. The same staff member entered my room under the pretense of retrieving a forgotten item from a previous guest, only to make disparaging remarks about me and my belongings. This was not only unprofessional—it was a violation of privacy and trust. Throughout my travels across New Zealand, I’ve encountered countless hosts who embody the warmth and integrity that this country is known for. Sadly, this was not the case here. The staff’s demeanor and conduct stood in stark contrast to the values of respect, openness, and genuine hospitality that I’ve come to associate with Aotearoa. “A disappointing stay that left me longing for the warmth and integrity I experienced elsewhere in New Zealand—this hostel would benefit from employing staff who truly embody the spirit of Kiwi hospitality, with cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and genuine care for guests.” I share this not out of malice, but from a place of truth. Travelers deserve to feel safe, respected, and welcomed—regardless of where they come from or what they look like.

The staff was very friendly. The place was clean and a positive environment. I was in a 6 bed room and it was comfortable and spacious. I could lock my luggage in a storage area when I went out. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. The lounge was a good place to hang out and meet others. It was in an awesome location for getting everywhere and very close to the Intercity stop.

Value for money. Great staff and everything you need for a great nights stay. Our room was right above kitchen so could really smell cooking. Perhaps need more ventilation.
