Anna Suites Ipanema

The location Breakfast. The coffee was one of the most disgusting things ever.

Not a bad location, the street it was on felt safe. Lots of police and security around. The apartment building had facial recognition with double doors and the apartment door it code access only. The employee David that took my bags to my apartment was very friendly and greeted me and escorted me to the check in desk and waited very patiently while I checked in. I reserved an apartment at the Anna Suites which is part of the Arena Hotel Ipanema. The front desk employee Charlie gave me a very hard time checking in because of a policy requiring me to present the physical card I used to pay for the reservation. I no longer had that card because many months later my Instacart account was hacked which had the same card on it and was cloned and used for unauthorized purchases. So my bank issued me a new card and I destroyed the old one. I explained this at check in and had already showed them a copy of my reservation email paid in full and my passport verifying my identity but Carlos would not accept this and kept referencing the policy. He said he would have to cancel my reservation and refund my initial payment then book the apartment again and make me pay a 2nd time while I wait for my initial refund. That was not an option for me. I could not afford an additional $2000 USD right then and there. We were at a standstill and I had no other option. Then he asked if I could provide some other receipt of payment using that card and I showed him the bank statement transaction and he said if I email that to him then he would ask his manager to make an exception. The manager agreed. I tried to be nice about this terrible experience and even apologized but I really did not do anything wrong. And that policy does not verify anything anyways so why give me a hard time? I already paid for it and you verified my identity. How does presenting the card help? Then David took me to the apartment building next door and at first the apartment seemed great. I noticed that it did not have a hammock as shown in the photos and even said that to David. During my stay of 6 days 5 nights I noticed that it was not clean. The dining chairs were covered in dust. No biggie for me. But the smell of the whole apartment and even the building hallway leading up to my apartment smelled like a sewer. It was very strong.

Location is really the only good part. I was not impressed with the quality of Anna Suites. It is an older hotel next to the main Arena Ipanema that was purchased probably more recently and has not undergone a renovation. It felt kind of abandoned and gloomy. Lobby smelled like mold. The drapes in my room had mildew spots. The cleanliness was also subpar. The separate entrance from the main hotel is also a bit inconvenient. Didn’t match the pictures at all. Much lower quality finishes. The service was lackluster at best. The staff barely cared to be there. For the price I paid, I felt like I got scammed to be completely honest. It really felt like I paid double what it was worth.

Breakfast quality wasn't the best. Ingredients seemed warmed up instead of cooked and lacked freshness .

Great facilities that feel very safe in the center of Rio. Loved having access to a rooftop bar and pool. The breakfast was great and plenty of options Interior is a little dated but still very comfortable

Regarding the room layout, the leisure and reception areas are located in a different building, so everything is not in one place. I was a little upset about the pricing. I had already paid in full when I made the reservation, but upon arrival I did not have the card used for payment for confirmation. As a result, they had to cancel my already paid reservation and issued a refund that was about $30 less than the amount I had paid. The new payment ended up being over $140. When I questioned the price at reception, they explained that it was due to the exchange rate. This was disappointing. However, aside from this unforeseen issue, everything else was fine.

Floors were dirty

Very well located. Confortable appartment. Access to rooftop pool with beautiful view. Friendly staff and nice breakfast On the 1rst floor there s not a lot of daylight getting through

The shower was problematic. It wasn’t functional and easy to deal with

We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff was excellent and I will definitely stay there again.

Amazing breakfast, they had something different every day. Room was comfortable and big. The location was very close to Ipanema and a few minutes walk to Copacabana.

Location only Extremely dirty, an enormous cockroach was found. The air conditioner isn’t working properly, was dripping water in the room. A disaster.

Location good. Pool small but good view. Breakfast was adequate. Bed comfortable and size of apartment reasonable. Floors are always dirty - breakfast area, pool, apartment. Pool dirty. NEVER any towels at the pool and pool loungers very uncomfortable. Staff service is very bureaucratic and unpleasant. Absolutely not value for the extremely high rates paid.

The location and breakfast was excellent Sometimes the staff were a bit grumpy mainly at breakfast others were charming

Location, close to the main beaches, close to everything. Staying in Anna you can use Arena facilities. The room description needs improvement. Says apartment with terrace and nice views (check attached pic). Goods views are available from Arena hotel. Room is not suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. Sofa is probably comfortable for (very) small kids

Big apartment with same services of an hotel: amazing!
