Santo Mirante Hostel

There was nothing I didn’t like. Perfect location.

The room and bed were comfortable, the shared kitchen was clean and well-stocked, the view from the apartment was incredible and Christina was kind and helpful.

We stayed at Santo Mirante Hostel during Carnival week, and it was absolutely perfect. Santa Teresa is a wonderful neighborhood, full of charm, with great cafés and restaurants nearby. During Carnival, it becomes the hub of the party, with blocos (street parties) everywhere, if you want to fully experience Carioca life, this is the best place to be! Despite the festive atmosphere, the hostel maintains a sense of calm and peace, making it a great retreat after the celebrations. We chose the room with a breathtaking view of Sugarloaf Mountain, and it was simply stunning. It became our little nest for eight days, and we loved every moment of it. The terrace with its incredible view, the hammock, and the kitchen overlooking the sea were some of our favorite spots to relax. Cristina, the owner, is an amazing host, kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. She assisted us with everything, from hostel-related needs to local recommendations. She cleans and tidies the room once a week, providing fresh towels, a thorough cleaning, and restocking the mini-fridge with drinks. The location is fantastic, you’re close to everything, and with Uber, getting around is super easy. We will forever have a wonderful memory of Rio, and this hostel will always be a part of it. Great place to stay, very clean and cosy! Also incredible view on Rio from terrace! Christina is the best host, very helpful- she gave us a lot of information and recommendations (we had many questions ;)).

really helpful guest, beautiful view it would be nice to have proper windows. We were quite unlucky with the weather and it was quite cold in the room, so have this in mind if you go during the colder season.

The host Christina is fabulous. Friendly, full of useful information and ready to weigh in to make your visit to Rio world class. The hostel is really well located and has amazing views from the rooms and the shared kitchen which Christina stocks daily with filtered water. We only wish we had spent longer!

Amazing view from our room, very helpful and lovely hostel owner, very quiet and beautiful part of the city, very safe, close to good restaurants and the centre of the city, room was very clean and comfortable. The hostel is on top of a hill, hence the amazing views, so probably only walkable for those who are physically able. However, taxis are cheap and easy to find. The hostel is perfect for a quiet stay, probably not the place to go if you’re looking for a social party hostel..

Exceptional

The view from the room and balcony was magnificent. it was clean and everything you need is there. Santa Teresa is my favourite part of Rio. But, as always, watch out during the night. What I normally like about hostels is group and social activities or tours.

The location was great with amazing views of sugarloaf!
