Courtyard by Marriott San Diego - Rancho Bernardo

This is a good place to stay. It was nice and clean, not loud, and the mini fridge and microwave were helpful.

We have stayed here several times in the past. Pros: conveniently located in Rancho Bernardo, clean property, cafe in hotel (please note it closes at 10am!), quiet. Cons: one elevator closing for repairs and busy due to many kids’ sport teams staying at hotel over the weekend- some times long waits for elevator; front desk staff only 1 person at times so when they walked away, had to wait a few minutes to be helped; and finally- please note there is a $15 per night charge to park in their lot! Bit strange since it’s in a residential area and surprised to see those charged at checkout

ROOM WAS NOT READY AT 4PM. STAFF WAS VERY GOOD AND DID THERE BEST TO KEEP US INFORMED. ROOM WAS NOT SERVICED ON OUR SECOND DAY. WE ARRIVED BACK AT THE HOTEL AT 10PM SO THERE WAS PLENTY OF TIME TO SERVICE THE ROOM. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE FRONT DESK ATTENTION THERE RESONSE WAS SORRY.

The room was very clean. All the staff at the hotel were very kind and helpful.

Construction noise

Main frustration was that one of the two elevators was out of order the 5 days I was there with no one ever working on it. Only having one working elevator made it very difficult for the guests and staff. The staff were very courteous and apologetic but always having to share the elevator with carts of cleaning products and dirty laundry was not very appealing.

The first day we got there our AC was not working & our room was super hot. I had my two toddlers with me so that wasn’t going to work. I called the lobby and they were able to get us moved the following morning. They were very helpful! The gym is mentioned and says it’s 24/7 but for some reason my key would not open the gym door. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. We had a great stay, a few hiccups but they were fixed for us. They do have a cute pond with ducks that my kids loved, and they also have a restaurant on the lobby floor which is very convenient. Fast food and stores are also a few minutes away.

Location and amenities

The 2 reasons why I chose this hotel is because I was visiting my son in San Diego and the hotel was within 5 minutes from his house. The other reason was because they allowed pets and the walking grounds are wonderful. The hotel could use a remolding and also offer free continental breakfast at least.

When I reported the issue right away, front desk staff showed zero empathy and simply handed me a cheap box fan as a “solution.” They claimed the hotel was fully booked and offered no room change, no real fix, and no meaningful assistance. A pathetic box fan did almost nothing to combat the heat, leaving me to suffer through a miserable, sweaty night that felt potentially harmful to my health. This is completely unacceptable for a Marriott property. Basic expectations like working AC were ignored, and their response was indifferent and unprofessional. I paid for a comfortable room and received none of that. I strongly advise pregnant travelers and anyone expecting reliable amenities to avoid this hotel. Management needs to do better — this experience was disgraceful

The room was clean and no issues with our room. Unfortunately the hotel booked several softball teams. All the public spaces were unusable, cushions from couches were tossed around, the plugged in videos of their game on the monitors, all the tables were moved and grouped for their use. The hallways were filled with people running around and being loud.

The bathroom need to upgrade

Room was clean, property was very nice, bed comfortable. Pool and spa were well taken care of. Will gladly stay next time in town.
