Very nice downtown Santa Barbara hotel! 5 stars.

The property was very clean. The staff was not very knowledgeable or helpful. The tvs don’t work for streaming devices we had their engineer Eric, who was excellent, try to fix the tv but couldn’t. The setting is antiquated. The walls are too thin and you can hear everything. The pool had a party, we stayed in the pool building and it was so loud and thumping we reconsidered moving hotels. The restaurants have strange hours and do not appear to be a part of the hotel. The building configuration is hard to maneuver and even harder to get help from staff. The front desk and the texting service was useless. Overall very disappointing and definitely not a five star hotel.

Lovely stay in a great location

check in was chaotic . She gave us a quick overview of the property, which is more of a compound and not super easy to figure out, but failed to provide the map. The biggest issues was the room wasn't ready till well after 4:00. They were supposed to update us, with a call and they didn't. We were left waiting in reception for a half hour and kept having to wait in line for reception.

They are located in the best Santa Barbara Funk Zone as it’s called but that also within 2 min walk of commercial transportation train tracks.

Amazing!

The replacement room was comfortable with working A/C, but the advertised "ocean view" was mostly the rooftop of a neighboring building with only a distant glimpse of the water. The hotel also repeatedly failed to provide enough towels and washcloths for our family of four. At checkout, we were told a promised $100 resort credit for our second reservation had been given in error at check-in. After explaining we had relied on that information, the hotel agreed to cover about $50 in bar charges instead. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and every employee we interacted with was friendly. However, knowingly assigning us a room with broken A/C, the repeated room issues, disappointing ocean view, and nearly $1,000 in incidental holds on my credit cards made this a frustrating experience. For over $2,500 for two nights, I expected far better from a hotel that markets itself as 5 stars.

Our family had a great stay. The rooms were spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful. And the location was perfect. We only had breakfast at the restaurant but it was great both days.

Beautiful room. Exceptional staff. Perfect location.

There access to apps such as Netflix was not working and only a handful of TV stations that were. When I mentioned it to the manager he said yeah they've been working on it but offered no compensation and that was our one night just to enjoy our hotel room we room service but couldn't watch any movies without the old-fashioned pay I'm gonna get-per-view

Great location, no complaints at all. Views were amazing and everyone was very happy, polite, and generally just in good moods!

It was beautiful, loved it!

Loved the location and decoration. Amazing bed and pillows ❤️

The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. One criticism: Shower needs a safety bar installed because there is nothing to hold on to and the floor is slippery when wet. Older folks like us need that.

-Hotel staff was nowhere to be found once we were escorted to the building we were staying in (multiple buildings). -The hotel bar closed at 8pm. -We attempted to make use of the amenities - rooftop pool - but due to what I presume was cloudy weather the chairs outside had no cushions and there were no hotel staff to service. -I was awakened by a 3am washing of our room's windows. I contacted staff which got back to me 6 hours later to apologize and offer some credit for the inconvenience. This was unacceptable and ridiculous. What an oversight. -The next day we met up with friends at the pool which was crowded. It took 1 hour for our diet cokes to arrive. And my friend was treated rudely by the staff member running the pool. I'm not sure if he ended up paying for fruit that we never received. -After checkout I was surprised to be charged for undisclosed $60+ "leisure fees" and $14 delivery for the room service we ordered on arrival (ultimately this was comped due to the window incident). But I really wonder how they possibly justify this added expense given the lack of attentive staff and narrow hours of operation. Overall this is simply not a luxury destination hotel. It's a beautiful location with well designed facilities. But they are currently charging inflated rates for what seemed like a short-staffed operation.

We had an awesome time at hotel Californian there rooftop pool is great. All the restaurants which are all walking distance were delicious. Very friendly staff and great rooms with balcony views of the ocean.
