The layout, the location, the decor, the rooms Booked a massage twice, pre-paid and the hotel failed to make it happen both times

Staff are pleasant and generally attentive. Worth noting that your stay might be problematic if you didn’t speak or understand Portuguese. This isn't a negative as Brazil as a nation are very accommodating but none of the staff speak english. Rooms were clean but the resort overall felt a little tired. The concrete floor in our self-contained hut wasn’t sealed so if we didn’t wear flipflops we had grey concrete dust on the soles of our feet. There was graffiti on the door handles of the loo and urine marks on the painted walls either side of the toilet bowl. The external glass patio door had a very large crack along its pane which we had to notify front of house. We also had an issue with the glass screen of our shower cubical becoming loose however it was fixed within the day. Based on all these things we’d requested to be moved however the only available hut was a recently renovated room (finished in Nov) but it still reeked of resin where the roof had been sealed so we declined. Each morning breakfast was delivered promptly to our room. Fresh fruit, juices and the choice of cooked eggs and meat. A good variety is on offer all pre-selected via whatsapp the night before, but be aware the helpings are small to which each morning we needed to request additional service. Their private beach is lovely and only a short walk from our hut. The track to the beach runs alongside a pretty coconut tree forest. There are also bicycles belonging to the resort which you can use to cycle to and along the beach. The beach area has the usual sunbeds, hammocks and deckchairs. Weirdly no cushions are available so after a while everything became quite uncomfortable which made it hard to relax. In addition to the above observation, there were however two major overarching negatives. First, before being shown to our hut, my wife was presented with a small black facecloth. To avoid staining of the resorts white linen she must only use this cloth to wash and remove make-up! And if any white linen were to be stained we’d be charged a soiling fee. Not a very good start. The second and most irritating event occurred every morning around 05.00hrs. Within the resorts garden there are resident Roosters. Each and every morning we were woken up by their morning calls. One morning they started at 4.30am! This is supposed to be a holiday resort so why on earth they have roosters waking everyone up before dawn is beyond me.

Fantastic location! The Taboo bungalows are fantastic- comfortable and well equipped. One of the things to point out is the outstanding quality of sleep - the bed, air conditioning and quiet. The food (breakfast and bistro) were also of note. Loved the bikes! The price of drinks at the bar is very high. R$ 54 for an Aperol and R$ 44 for a gin & tonic are pretty high. The most egregious was the wine - the mark up at Taboo is between 200-400%; so you can expect a R$ 37 bottle (Cepas chenin) will set you back R$ 170 - that’s quite a mark up for a poor wine. Also the Taboo is not flexible around breakfast- earliest we ate was 8am - breakfast is delivered in 30min slots starting at 7.30 - given sun comes up at 5am, this is pretty late.

Exceptional

Great location for a simple beach stay. A simple walk to the beach. Bungalows aren’t particularly private.
