Mona`s Hostel

- Location: In an apartment building, 5min to a supermarket and the starting stop of the Sarandë-Ksamil-Butrint bus. - The room and the bed are clean - Balcony has clothing lines, some tables, and offers a nice views of the Sarandë beach/bay - The check-in process was very confusing. I followed the sign to the top floor, only to realize there was no front desk. I had to go down one floor and find an unsigned apartment, and saw an old lady (who turned out to be the owner). She speaks only Albanian and Greek, so have your translation app ready. She was nice and gave me juice and asked me to have a seat in the apartment, but I just wanted to check in, drop my bag off, and head out. She couldn't understand my intention even with the translator, and I had had a long day, so it felt frustrating. The signs and process about check-in could be more clear for both sides - The bathroom always smells a little strange - There was AC in the room but it was never turned on. Maybe I just didn't ask. It was hot at night (July) but got cooler in the morning - The old lady mentioned above also came into the room from time to time, I guess to look at/check stuff. But I felt a little watched

Location and view are amazing. Great balcony. It’s on the 5th floor so great exercise on the way up ;) The hostel is well kept. One bathroom. Not really a big issue as long as people are respectful. Also the other dorm has a bathroom that I feel you could use if necessary.

I stayed here two years ago. I came back again this summer. The hostel is very clean, safe, has adequate kitchen equipment, and a balcony with a sea view. The location is super central. Most importantly, you feel at home. Mona, her sister, and their whole family are wonderful people. They make me feel like a member of the family, not just a customer. ?Thank you for everything. See you next summer ?

Mona is an absolute sweetheart. She goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and at home. The fourth floor walk up.

Mona is such a sweetie! She welcomed me with a refreshing drink and on another day gave me a little snack. She treats guests like her children. ッ The location is great (walk around the back of the building when you see the sign), and the girls have their own kitchen and balcony. Only downside was all sharing one bathroom/shower.

It was very clean and a great location! The kitchen was quite nice and Mona is amazing! Nothing.

The hostel is on the 5th floor of a run down building. Climbing up daily was very difficult

Mona, her sister and everyone working were really nice. The room and common spaces were really comfortable. The organization, especially for people doing their check-in, was not as good. I felt it myself, and I saw people arriving after me going through the same. However, this is just a heads up to people booking a room, but this is nothing compared to how good the place is

It was a really great stay. I appreciated my time here. They took really good care of us. It was a very nice, calm and peaceful vibe. Really easy to get along in a good part of the city. I would recommend staying here.

I felt like home at Mona’s hostel. Mona is so lovely and welcoming. The location is great and you can see the port from the porch. I felt extremely safe as a female solo traveler. Mona made the place very cozy, roomy and I felt home away from home.

The location is perfect; a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal, 5 min to the bus station, 5 min to the beach and promenade. Lots of small shops in the street. The hostel is located in two apartments that have been joined together. Mona and her sister are very helpful and welcoming. Mona speaks English, not her sister. The apartment is located on the fifth floor, no elevator. Which can be a bit tricky if you have a heavy suitcase. The balconies are a nice place to sit on in the evenings and hang out with the other ladies. The bedroom has AC, not the living room so it can get hot if you end up sleeping there. The kitchen was well equipped. The entrance is in the back of the building, which took me a while to find. The atmosphere was genuine, quiet and good. I'd stay here again! There are beds and couches everywhere in the apartment and only one bathroom in each apartment. Can imagine it gets a bit crowded when the hostel is full. There were three people sleeping in the living room, so you had to walk past them when entering the hostel, or when you went to the toilet at night.

The owner who spoke English disappeared. She left a person who could not relate with us. She spoke only Albanese!!!! We had one bathroom for seven women. Impossible. All the women were disappointed. The beds are old AND when you mover they make a lot of noise. Just one Air conditioner for one room. It is no the fifth floor by stairs

Mona is great, very humble, hospitable, and ensured it was to your liking. This was a great spot and a great place to stay. My only choice if I ever go back.
