The place, the decoration, the breakfast… everything were carefully selected with fine taste. The room offered space, intimacy and great features, such as a small second room with single bed, big shower and even vintage bath inside the main room! Lucia has been wonderful with us, giving us good advices for local discoveries which has been really helpful to have a magnificent stay in her place surrounded by nature. The place is easily reachable by car but you need to be careful if you have a very low height car, as the access road is very steep and may be very slippery in rainy times.

Unique location, very private and serene with only the sounds of birds and cicadas chirping in the surrounding nature. The house is accommodated very well with high quality amenities and thoughtful design choices. Breakfast was beautifully curated and we enjoyed conversation with the host. Very satisfied with every detail of the property.

The property sits privately on acres of land, atop of a hill, populated with trees and birds and all the elements that makes you feel like you’re deep in the woods, yet only a 5min drive to Sarzana town center. Sarzana has an amazingly lively town center bursting with artistic and tasteful businesses, theatres, restaurants and bars, all tucked between medieval streets. The house was impeccably restored by the owner over several years, to transform a very old hunting lodge into this timeless structure that is both modern and rustic. What really stood out to us was the lighting - it feels intentional the way natural light is captured from room to room, each a little different but all illuminated the space in a very poetic, healing way. We were welcomed into her apartment every morning for a breakfast banquet, always seasonal, always showcasing the region’s best. Nothing is too small for her to hold and elevate: local ceramics, fine china teacups and saucers and silverware from her mother’s treasured collection, sheep’s yoghurt provided by a friend, wild flowers from the garden for garnishing… I can go on. It’s an experience that each guest will get, albeit individual and one will notice and appreciate something different from the next. She took decades, and all of her passions and philosophies, to carve this space for herself, a retreat from the world but not from her community, and that is what she shares with her guests. We are so appreciative that we get a glimpse into a life of maternal peonies, wild creatures and bathing under the moonlight. There’s nothing about the property I did not love.

During the stay the host was discrete and let the hosts use the accommodation without overly controlling, which made it pleasant as an impression. When you put yourself in the category of 300-350 euro a night. It is essential to be understand that you are there to accommodate clients with a certain standard. The communication from the host was rather self-centred. The client needs to satisfy her appointments, not the other way around… Hygiene: The room was lacking a good hygiene standard. The interior creates an accumulation of dust. There is nowhere to sit down in the room, nor there is an option while the location is in nature to have a snack or a fresh water. It is a B&B that clearly finds the approach good enough like that. Unfortunately to keep it successfully running things will need to be improved or prices will need to be changed.
