No complaints at all. Wonderful stay!
-
We have stayed at The DeSoto several times. The property's old elegance is well maintained and appropriately updated in keeping with the historic building. The hotel cocktail bar is inviting and comfortable. The restaurant is solid southern cuisine. The only complaint is the check-in process. It has always been on the slow side, but this time it was unacceptable. We waited 30 minutes in line. The Front Desk Supervisor (General Manager?) was present and aware but did not jump in and lend a hand.

The valet parking staff were the best I've ever encountered. The bar service was fantastic. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. The location was great within walking distance of some great restaurants. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. When we arrived, there was a very bad smell on our floor but it was quickly taken care of. No fridge in the room and two USB plugs were on the side the cabinet/dresser. Not obvious. You need an outlet to USB adapter to charge your devices anywhere else. The WIFI service sucked...maybe because we were on the 7th floor. No login required and VPN didn't work. Better service using my cell as a hotspot.

Clean room with beautiful lobby

This hotel had the most amazing staff! And if you are a coffee lover next door is literally the best coffee skip Starbucks for one day.

When we arrived, our air conditioner was very loud. However, this was remedied quickly after the maintenance person cleaned the “dirty blades.” The rug was a bit tattered in our room. There was hair on our shower floor. The light switch in the bathroom was black with grime in areas. There was no refrigerator, soap dish, or hairdryer. The pool was small and felt a little gross, but it was fun for the kids. It was overcrowded on the weekend with drinking adults. The cafe in the lobby’s credit card machine was down. They were only accepting cash or room charge. There was no sign out on the counter regarding this even though this lasted the duration of our 3 night stay. One could get a “drink credit” for going green and not requesting a room tidying daily. Be warned that this is distributed as a small paper card and the total amount on it has to be used all at once, so you better be ready to buy a couple drinks. This amount could not be used on coffee at the cafe as the amount on the card was much bigger than 2 coffees. Overall, the hotel was adequate, but I don’t think we will stay there again if we return to Savannah.

We had a good stay overall, but the housekeeping was almost non-existent. Only our bath towels were replaced each day (no other towels), and nothing else was done to the room. Beds were very loosely made; no glasses/cups were replaced; coffee wasn't replenished; we ran out of body wash, etc. Pool towels were completely gone when we visited. Also the walls were very thin and we could hear conversations from the family next door. The property itself is fine, but proof that the staff can make all the difference. I will say that the valet staff was excellent and was super hospitable. They were the highlight, even though it should've been our room.

At $450 plus a night in Savannah I thought I had booked a decent hotel. It looked more like a high volume cruise line. Very disappointing. Total rip off.
-
Very nice hotel! Bar and dining room were excellent. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but AC was very weak, never got below 75 in the room. The balcony sliding door was very hard to open and close. Bartender at pool was very nice.

Loved my stay. Excellent location.

Great location for enjoying Savannah

This is so beautiful hotel and will definitely be back. I guess the only thing i can say we didn't like was that there is no room service. Everything else was really nice and the staff was great!!

I arrived in Savannah via the train and arrived very early in the morning. Due to this early arrival, I paid for an early check-in and was grateful and thankful that I was able to check into hotel earlier than I expected. I only dined in the restaurant once for breakfast and the food was tasty. Overall, it was a good stay. The only issue I had was with the iron in my room… a minor thing that was fixed. The hotel is in a good location and I walked everywhere I wanted to go.

Given this and the fact that they have the most uncomfortable beds (unbelievably soft and lumpy)we've ever been in, we cut our vacation short and went home early.

This is the filthiest, most run down property that alI have ever stayed at. Don't let the lobby fool you - that's the only part that is decent. The carpeting in all of the hallways are Filthy. Black mold can be found in numerous places in rooms. Tub faucets are literally detached from the tub. Strong sewer/gas smell. Gross elevators that sound like they may not last much longer. The cheap flooring is literally peeled away in many places. Wallpaper is peeling off of the walls. The air vents are packed with dirt & dust. In one room the closet doors wouldn't close because the hangers wouldn't fit. No Staff members can be found in the lobby & bar in the early evening & numerous times during the day. We were heading out to dinner right around 8pm & we ran into people in the lobby asking us if the place was open. The cleaning staff should Not be blamed - it's 100% lack of any Management. Never Stay Here - we certainly won't. Disgusting place.
