All staff at The DeSoto were fantastic. From the valet( GIO) , to the front desk check in (MIMI) and to both bartenders at the bar. Best old fashion. Great hotel
-
A beautiful place to stay, but unfortunately the pool and fitness center were closed the entire time we were there and they did not offer a complimentary alternative, so we ended up paying for a day pass to go to another pool.
-
Hotel was in a great location Staff was amazing, Only issue was pool and gym was not useable but it was not an big deal and it was an unforeseen occurrence due to repairs

We got in a little early. Front desk said room was ready but then wanted to charge us $50 to go into it so we didn’t go in early. When we got into the room we found a letter saying pool was closed for entire stay. At least they could have told us at check in and let us check in early. It was over 90 degrees each day and that is the reason we picked the hotel. Housekeeping cleaned room but left dirty glasses and used soap in room after they left. We usually like staying at the DeSoto.

I didn’t like the servise at all!! The pool was out of service

We have stayed here several times before because the location is ideal right in the middle of the historic district. This time we were very disappointed that the pool and work out room were closed for renovations, but the front desk staff took good care of us. The staff member at the coffee bar in the lobby was excellent. I'm kinda a coffee snob so usually I walk one block down to the Coffee Roasters down the street but this time I had coffee at the hotel and it was pretty good

Mimi at the front desk and the valet attendant that worked in the afternoon with the beard was excellent.

Great location everyone was kind and very helpful. Definitely will be back. Thank you.

1. What hotel advertises having a pool and then organizes for the pool to have its annual maintenance done during the hottest week of the year 2. The glass sliding door on the bath had tons of algae where the two glass panels met 3. One of the rooms we had booked, you could only shower, one couldn't get water to come out of the faucet.

The staff is excellent and could not have asked for a better stay.

We booked a poolside room a month in advance and weren’t told until we checked in that the pool was undergoing a major repair and would be out of commission for the entire duration of our stay. Feels like they should have given us notice about that ahead of time, we might have decided to stay somewhere else. That said, the staff was very kind and accommodating - they did upgrade our room and gave us vouchers for food and drink. The property itself has some wear and tear, but is still charming and the central location is ideal.

Specifically booked this hotel for the pool and the pool was of course closed for maintenance and this was not advertised on their website or on Expedia at all so I didn’t find out until arriving and then the property had no solutions. No partial refund which is extremely disappointing given it was 98 degrees with a heat index of 109 and I had planned to spend time at the pool.

The hotel is beautiful, however, I had tried to contact the concierge prior to our stay. There was no response to any voice or text messages for questions we had concerning our stay . They never informed us the pool was closed, which was our sole reason for choosing the DeSoto . The desk agents only refered us to the note in our room. I had spoken to an agent on the phone the night before our visit. She told me we could use the pool earlier than the 4:00 PM check-in time. We were not told the pool was already closed, and had been closed since the 12th. Worst of all, my wife e-mailed the hotel manager, who did not respond in any way. I had expected some sort of response, but did not get one from anyone there. Everyone was polite, but not willing to answer any questions.

The pool was also closed during our stay, which was never disclosed when we booked. That was especially frustrating because it was one of the amenities we expected to be able to use and factored into choosing this hotel. The hotel also only allows valet parking, no self parking which wouldn’t be a problem except the valet seems to be understaffed- there were multiple times when there was no one available to leave our keys with and had to leave them with the front desk. They also left my car unlocked and unattended in front of the hotel for 10+ minutes while I waited for the guy to bring me my keys. Anyone could have gotten into my car. I understand that hotels can be older and things occasionally break, but there’s a difference between an older property and one that simply isn’t being properly maintained. Between the condition of the room, mold in the shower, lack of hot water, and an advertised amenity being unavailable without notice, this stay was nowhere near what we expected or paid for. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

The room was clean and the staff helpful with suggestions. They were able to switch my room when I realized I booked the wrong bed size.

The pool was being redone in August?

Based on the photos, I expected the room to be in better condition. I had reserved a room with a balcony, but unfortunately the balcony did not have any furniture. The room itself appeared somewhat dated, and several pieces of furniture showed signs of wear. The bathroom was quite small and could have benefited from better upkeep. Overall, my stay did not fully meet my expectations, and I was a bit disappointed.
-
Very disappointed the pool was closed. There was no notification anywhere. We chose this hotel because of the pool. Would have been nice to have because the temps were over 100 with the heat index. One the plus side, the hotel did upgrade us to a suite

Unfortunately the pool and gym were closed for repairs but the staff were really nice and made the stay enjoyable. Gio & DJ at Valet were very helpful and funny, Lewis at the bar and the other bartender were great and also had a good sense of humor! The staff at the restaurant were also very helpful. The room was fine, great view, amazing water pressure in the shower. That alone gets some extra credit😊

Pool and restaurant was closed. Unfortunately on a 95 degree day.
