Cube Bed Station - Hostel

I booked for three nights and then added another two because my room was so comfortable and the location is so good, close to restaurants and shops and food stalls. A lot of thought has been put into the planning of the rooms so that the guests have everything they need. I was very grateful for the shampoo after snorkelling. Also there is a welcoming shared space downstairs with a fridge, a water filter and plates and cutlery. The staff were lovely, but did not know that I had to ask to rent flippers for snorkelling. If you want flippers, make sure you hire them when you make your tour booking.

Corridor is open and smell of out is coming inside I couldn’t sleep properly because of smell If you are sensitive to smell skip this place During busy time hard to get taxi to place

Location! Location! Location! Room are small, but well expected where they located.

Room is rather small, can hear some noise from the street / people walking outside your door

1. position is just, fabulous, for most cases. lots of restaurants to choose from, close to the fish market, close to many scuba/plongee diving providers 2. the room is designed in a way that is still acceptable, with considerably good conditioned amentieis and facilities inside the room. 1. noisy. the building next to the hotel is under construction and is producing a unbearable volume of noise, from around 8am to 6pm. 2. room is just, small; price is too high in the town. 3. quite dirty outside the hotel - it's still quite good within the hotel though 4. it provide a balcony for guests to hang their clothes on, but, smoky restaurants will make your readily-cleaned wet clothes .... into .... tasty food?

Ventilation could be better, leading to sweaty and musty rooms

Dorm is clean and pods and very private with screens. Located in the hub of the harbor with many food options just outside the door. Within walking distance of all the dive shops. Dorm room is very tiny, and bathrooms/showers require you to leave the dorm and enter the lobby. Was loud in the early evening but quieted down at a reasonable hour.

Only qualm is the room did not have a window (we knew this going in, so it wasn’t a surprise or anything).

The location is great. The back door of the hostel leads directly onto the pier where the restaurants are. I ordered from fat mom twice and both times I was able to have them deliver to the hostel which was very convenient. When I was done, I just returned the plate back to the restaurant. My room was right outside of the reception area therefore I could hear everything happening outside. The dorm was very small as well. I liked the code access to enter the front and back of the hostel. I did 2 island tours through the hostel and both start points were right on the pier making it convenient. The guys at reception were always so helpful. Semporna is very rundown and surrounded by children beggars who are either tapping you for money or getting yelled at by restaurant staff for sitting in front of their establishment. It is a sad sight and for that reason I didn’t feel safe walking alone at night so I really liked the hostels direct access to the pier. Although, the bathroom has 2 toilets and 2 showers, it only has 1 sink. There were multiple times I had to awkwardly share the sink with a random guy. This is not a social hostel . No breakfast included.

I was in one of the two water-view rooms with terrace - very nice! Nothing! I’d stay in the same room again

Conveniently very centered in the city

This is probably one of the nicer places in town. The town is so dirty, so I was worried when first arrived. But when I got into the Cube, I was relieved. Smells good, friendly people, lockers available, WiFi works perfectly. Supermarkets are very close. Dorm room was not fully booked, so I had a good night's rest. There's nothing to complain about. Maybe the trips offered are pricey compared to same trips when you look on the street. We're talking about a few ringgit here, but backpacker's budget is tight, so I just mention that for fellow travelers who need to think about every penny in their pocket.

Very good location to everything Room a bit small for us

Super simple, but very well done rooms. Got all the basics and the basics are done well. We had a queen bed with a window and really enjoyed it. It was super close to our dive center for a few days and it has an array of restaurant options nearby. Hot water in the showers is instant. Beds were comfortable and just soft enough for our liking. Good array of lighting options. Cold Beer for a decent price sold in lobby. Good sized TV's (if they work. Ours was broken) Never a fan of the showers that get the toilets all wet, but at least you'll have no issues with hot water. Power by the beds would be appreciated. Underutilized shared spaces in lobby. Usually no one in it and nothing playing on the TV. Shower room may need a fan. Smelled a little musty.

Semporna is not the most attractive town and there are not great hotel options. We were there for a night on either end of a dive trip on Mabul Island. This hotel is definitely the best one I could find and the price was great. The rooms are tiny but very clean and there is a little balcony with water views. The location is very close to the dive shops and waterfront restaurants. There is a common area on the ground floor. They charge you a deposit and then you have to make sure you don’t forget to ask for it back.

Very clean and affordable place. Location is excellent as well.

Location, Room quality and Staff Nine

friendly staff even late or in the early morning even with a backpackers this was too uncomfortable. mattresses were superthin, even lighter persons feel the wooden base of the bad. ouch. the ventilation outlet in the bed was doing nothing, just noises if turned on. shared bathroom was the lobby-toilet for hotel customers in the ground floor but including a shower. it all just seems like a spare room in the hotel, that was used to get another target group. which would be fine, if done with more love. so, for one night, if you are desperate or too lazy too walk the 10 minutes from other backpacker options - can do.
