The place is a good location for everything and it was definitely spacious, especially for the price. Its off the main road as well so its not loud at night either. The beds are quite hard but not to bad if you dont like harder beds a topper would be best option.

We loved how homey it felt and how it was set up from genuine connection with other guests without feeling overwhelming. The host was extremely helpful with his excellent recommendations and was very friendly. The room was clean and well located!

Everything was perfect especially the staff: the hotel’s host Yoo is one of the kindest person I’ve met during my trip (and believe me: Korean people are really kind), he explained me everything about the place: the attractions, the hikes in Seoraksan and even the restaurants!! It is a truly unique experience and I really hope I’ll be able to come back one day! Until then, please Yoo don’t ever change: you’re the best!!!

The host was fantastic — great local advice for spots to eat and things to do around Sokcho and Seoraksan. Cozy atmosphere and great decorations at the House!

Mr. Yoo is very friendly. He recommended great spots and restaurants in Sokcho. The property is very homey, vibrant, and inviting. It is peaceful and relaxing as well. The rooms are clean, has a tv and fridge, and the bathroom is clean. The price per night is very affordable as well. There is a convenience store and a bus station near the house. The market is walking distance too!

Just a few minutes from the bus station, this cute hostel is a real gem and shows all the love of the owner in the details and the decorations. Yoo is very responsive and gave me plenty of info about where to eat in Sokcho, how to get to the parkand what to see, how to get to my next destination and more. Definitely a place to stay!

The House Hostel is charming! Welcoming, cozy, eclectic atmosphere with comfortable beds & private baths. Shared common area & kitchen & on-site coin-operated W/D. Yu was very knowledgeable and promptly sat down with me and offered recommendations and travel info. It’s conveniently located about 3 mins away from the Northern Express Bus Station & around the corner from the 7-71 bus stop for Seoraksan. A 10 minute walk to the Central Market & Fish Market. There’s an all night convenience store a minute walk away & a new Compose Coffee that’s about 2 blocks away. A lovely place to relax

    Big thank you

Mattress was very hard. Very uncomfortable to sleep. Shower curtain could have been easily installed with minimum expense. Without the shower curtain, water splashes every where in the bathroom and the floor drain worked slowly, causing the water level rising as I took the shower.

Sokcho has a small supply of budget-low-moderately priced accommodation that could be considered pleasant and adequate. This hostel was orderly, The interior was safe except for stair steps of differing heights, and the need to watch where one is placing their feet. The fact that the operation of the property is carried out in an organized and orderly fashion has worthwhile value for guests. I watched the operator of the property convey to guests how little their needs or queries mattered to him once they were checked in. Two women, for example, stood in the lobby fewer than 2 meters from the textile partition the operator was sitting behind as they talked about how they were going to get into their room. He heard them, of course, while behind his curtain. I happened to come into the lobby and they asked me for any help I could provide in getting their room door open. Two men, on another day, stood in the lobby a meter and a half from the hostel operator discussing how they hoped they could find somewhere to eat dinner being that restaurants close early in that area of Sokcho and it was approaching 8 pm. Again, the hostel operator heard them as he conversed with others in the lobby. But that didn't get those men a restaurant suggestion. I walked them down the street to a place I knew would be open until 9:30'ish and had moderately priced good quality food. I was at the hostel for about 8 days total nursing an injury that interfered with the purpose of my trip to Sokcho - climbing. Because of the length of time there I got a more thorough look at procedures and more experience observing and dealing with the operator.

I stayed here once over 10 years ago and it is remarkable that a hostel can maintain excellent quality for such a long time. Good location, cozy common area, and the most kind and helpful host in Mr. Yoo.

The bathroom has no ventilation so it got pretty hot.

  • Engine customer Jul 2025

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Great tips from the owner made our stay really memorable.

  • Engine customer May 2025

The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in a hostel. Normally you get a mattress that has dents in it because so many people have slept on it, but the bed was just firm enough to make you feel like you’re one of the first people to sleep on it.
