Le Castelet des Alpilles
About Le Castelet des Alpilles
This hotel is located 330 yards from the center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This beautiful Provençal village remained very attached to a rich past and traditions. Le Castelet des Alpilles is an ancient large impressive house dating from the beginning of the 19th century. It became a hotel in 1952 and has been managed by the same family for 3 generations. You can relax on deck chairs in the vast garden by the shade of a hundred- year-old cedar tree.

I loved the location. Pool was refreshing after exploring Provence during heatwave. The trees, flowers around property and pool are beautiful. We were paying guests. They don’t serve lunch . After I went to the Wednesday market, I came back to buy a water and coca-cola from the front desk and was hoping to eat the roast chicken I had bought at the market. The owner would not let us eat our food in the garden. Unfortunately, I had just checked out so it was not possible to go to my room to eat. I think this policy is unreasonable.

We liked the fact that it was close to the center of St. Remy, the Van Gogh infirmary, and the Glanum archeological site. The staff at the hotel (family) was very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was great too.

Beautiful small hotel that evokes the charm of the small town that it is in. Couldn’t ask for a better affordable option. Make sure you have the door code before you leave at night.

Everything was very nice, well appointed, clean, great location just a short walk from the center of town. The staff was very nice, helpful, friendly and professional. The breakfast was excellent too! We loved having the balcony with the view of the rooftops and mountains in the distance. Would have liked a coffee/tea pot in the room since breakfast was late by our standards (we are early risers).

Friendly, helpful staff. Close to the centre of town. Parking on site. Lovely breakfast! Room was a little austere- not a lot of character. Minor detail.

wonderful staff, walkable to town centre, excellent breakfast, very nice views of Alpilles from our room, available parking.

Room was not very quiet as I could hear conversations from other rooms. But the building is old so this may explain why I could hear conversations.

The location of the hotel is really good as it takes only about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of St Remy and there is a little supermarket halfway for added convenience. It is off the main road so it is quiet at night and we had a nice view over the roofs and to the hills in the distance from our room. I also really liked the typical French window shutters, they kept the room shady and cool during the day. As charming as the hotel looks from the outside, we were a little disappointed with the inside. The endless hallways and many staircases gave a dark and sterile impression. There was no lift and we had to go up three flights of stairs to reach our room. The room itself seemed a bit tired with old mismatched furnishings and lacked comfort as it did not have a table, or a kettle, the TV was miniscule and it was hard to have a shower without water spilling all over the bathroom floor as the shower was over the bathtub and only had a small shower screen. The toilet was separate, but the space was so tight, you had to squeeze in and the door was broken, so didn't shut properly. The pool area that features so prominently in the photos was a lot smaller than expected and only had a handful of sun lounges, therefore it was near impossible to find a free one in the afternoons . All in all we found it a bit pricey for what was offered.

Location ok Cockroaches in the room. The hotel staff was unable to resolve the issue adequately. Issue still not resolved. Stay away if you care about your health.

Excellent location, beautiful building and gardens, clean and comfortable and a wonderful breakfast with local meats, cheeses, and locally homemade jams! Lovely stay!

very friendly staff. superb breakfast. nice. comfortable clean place. about a 7 minute walk from downtown. Good choice.

The property is very close to the main town and yet far enough a way to have peace and quiet. There is an outdoor space where you can have a cup of tea or read a book and it is very nice. It is very close to a grocery store making it very handy to pick up a few things for the day. For €15, you could have a very good breakfast. We like to open our windows and in general no one seems to have screens on their windows so if you leave them open too long, you’re going to get some bugs. I could’ve used an extra blanket and luckily I was able to find one on my own. The shower is excellent but again it’s this new way of having just a half of a shower door meaning that water gets out and about. This seems to be common in many places. The bed was perfect for me- hard/not soft.

The breakfast was great. The staff was kind and courteous. We had safe parking for our car. Short stroll into heart of town. The asylum where Van Gogh was was treated was right up the street (worth it!). They have a nice pool but it was a bit too cool for us to take advantage of. They are in a great location and Saint-Remy is a great village to visit!

Well located a short distance from the center of St Remy. Parking was easy and free. The breakfast was excellent and worth the cost. Nice family run place The rooms were pretty sparse. Mattress good but the decor felt old and there were no little conveniences like a teapot or in room coffee. Perhaps most importantly the noise of people coming and going was awful. I could easily hear two people having an intimate connection while walking down the hall.

Great location, charming staff and spotlessly clean A bit utilitarian in its decor

The Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Breakfasts were good too. We also enjoyed the outdoor terrace area. The only problem was that it was quite noisy with traffic.
