Le Vieux Portail

The surroundings, beauty, peace and the outdoor pool were lovely. The host was attentive and responded quickly to requests for help with toilet, fresh towels and an umbrella for rain. The property, while it had a lot of charm and old character, were just more rustic than we imagined. We would suggest an upgrade to the bedding, the linens/towels to a white material so they can be bleached and cleaned more thoroughly to avoid smells. As well the washroom ventilation and plumbing have some issues. Expected in an old home but for the price we paid we were a bit disappointed.

It’s an excellent farmhouse renovation that truly captures the essence of the Provence. Stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the village of Saint Saturnin. Wonderful hosts, breakfast is available at the property and although there are other guests at the property it remains very private for everyone.

Both the location and the studio were absolutely stunning. Incredible place to stay, with very lovely people helping out with all possible questions and still giving us enough space to enjoy a private time together. All rooms were next to each other, and still we had the feeling of having the property to ourself. Very clean pool & surroundings. We should have stayed longer ;)

Host were amazing. They made exceptions for us and are one of the most genuine people I have met. Breakfast was amazing and tooms Were very clean.

Everything was wonderful: the room, the space outside, the view. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. A calm setting decorated with taste, lovely views and a great hostess. A place to come back!

The area is very pretty and has a few towns near by that are nice. Overall the room is nicely designed. There is no privacy. Anyone at any time can walk by and look directly into each others rooms since the rooms are all so close to one another and looking over the common areas. Therefore, it makes it obligatory to be with the blinds completely closed at all times and therefore, ruins the experience of the beautiful nature view. Another point is they turn off all the lights outside really early. We got back from a dinner at 10:00 pm and the hotel was completely dark. We wanted to sit outside with a glass of wine and fresh air, however, it was complete darkness and not pleasant to do so. Overall, I would say the resort is not very suitable for a romantic gateway.

Beautiful location, very peaceful and quiet. Lovely walkable country pathways and roads right outside the property to walk off the wonderful breakfast. The mattress was very comfortable (even for a heavy guy like myself) and we slept very well. Excellent pool with very comfortable sun loungers. Pillows were a little too thick and large for our liking but that is purely down to personal preference. I would suggest including an the option of thinner pillows as well. Other than that, nothing we didn’t like about the property.

Beautiful and peaceful property with outstanding view of saint Saturnin les Apt and surrounding vineyards and olive trees. Late afternoons with a dip in the pool to cool off after good day of hiking and sightseeing nearby. The breakfasts were delicious. Louise was so helpful giving advise on restaurants and hiking. The apartment was very comfortable with a lot of wonderful character. We booked for 6 nights and would love to come again. Highly recommend.

Le Vieux Portail is a beautiful and comfortable property. Louisa and Lucien are warm, attentive and inviting hosts. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with everything you need to fuel your day in Provence.. The location is amazing, surrounded by vineyards and very close to Saint-Saturnin-leas-Apts ... within walking distance, and Apt a short drive away. The region provides excellent options for cycling and sightseeing. The Wi-Fi could have been stronger in our room ... but was ample for our needs.

This is a beautiful place. It is great for bikers and hikers. It is not for people who want high comfort amenities like you find in a western hotel. The breakfast was fabulous - fresh fruit, cheeses, croissants and Louisa is happy to make you an egg any style. Great for photos.
