Cromlix
About Cromlix
Owned by Kim and Andy Murray, Cromlix is a five-star country house hotel set in 34 acres of secluded Scottish woodland, just three miles from Dunblane. Following an extensive 2026 renovation, this historic Victorian mansion has never looked better. Every inch of Cromlix has been shaped by Kim Murray's hands-on creative vision: vibrant botanical interiors, contemporary art, and a strong preference for local Scottish artisans and suppliers. Elegance, here, is wonderfully undone. Dining is exceptional. The Garden Room is a striking glass-fronted bistro overlooking the main lawn; Cradle is an intimate 16-cover fine dining experience; and The Glasshouse offers afternoon tea in beautifully reimagined surroundings. All three are led by Executive Head Chef, James Mearing, drawing on Cromlix's own Kitchen Garden and the finest Scottish produce. Cromlix offers 20 rooms and suites including a new ground-floor accessible suite and the self-catering Laurel Gate Lodge. Hotel guests have exclusive access to the Woodland Retreat spa, featuring treatments from MODM and Bamford, alongside our sauna and cold plunge. The estate's chapel, lochan, tennis and pickleball courts and woodland walks ensure there is always something to discover. Relaxed, characterful and deeply rooted in the Scottish countryside - Cromlix is where elegance is truly undone.

The building and grounds are lovely The fact that we were not told we would not be able to use the bar whilst we were there, there should’ve been the choice of two restaurants and there wasn’t, there was a wedding party in, which is no problem at all if we had just been told before we arrived, we would’ve changed the date we stayed. Unfortunately the coffee machine in the room didn’t work and only warm water in the shower.

Understated luxury…..obvs a great going business with plenty of guests but kept an overall feel of calm & quiet. Loads of staff which makes a change from so many places these days....the Murray’s clearly providing strong local employment support!! Well done. A couple of modest sized tables in bedroom & bathroom to put stuff on wouldn’t go amiss!!

The restaurant was excellent, great attention to detail, friendly staff and the food was exquisite. The grounds were beautiful, we took a gentle stroll and enjoyed the tranquil scenery. The room was immaculate, comfy and had all the mod cons to make it feel like a home away from home. The weather, but its Scotland, in the middle of winter and last time I checked the hotel can't control that. Wrap up warm, and enjoy the surroundings.

A Prosecco on arrival, valet parking and a warm welcome. We went for my husband’s birthday and were given a room upgrade which was fabulous. Beautiful property and wonderful service. Very relaxed and homely Glasshouse restaurant not very cosy for dinner although food was fabulous. More a daytime feel to it

We loved the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of this exceptionally beautiful hotel. From the moment we walked through the door it felt like we were among friends. Staff were attentive yet unobtrusive and the thought and care that had gone into every aspect of the hotel shone through. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, the interior design vibrant and joyful with an eclectic and intriguing mix of art to be discovered in every room. The food was delicious and pre-dinner cocktails in the bar or snooker room a must! Nothing

Loved the hospitality with the little touches- shortbread, chocolate, fruit, slippers. Amazing venue and lovely food! The weather was rainy and would have been nice to have more indoor facilities like a pool/ spa or gym.

The staff are very friendly, loverly building and grounds. Food not great, especially for vegans. Thought a little on the expensive side for the facilities offered.

The staff were very attentive in a very relaxed and personable way. Breakfast and dinner in the lovely dining room were both tasty and relaxing. The grounds and hotel setting are stunning. We will be back! There was nothing to dislike. But one very slight complaint would be the quality of the hair conditioner, but this is splitting hairs.

Loved it, the intimate size of the whole place was fab and the style and decor of the place was just perfect. Enjoyed 2 dinners, the vegetarian choice was much appreciated even though I’m not vegetarian! We hit it lucky with the weather so sitting out at the back was such a pleasure. I liked everything although would try a different room for another stay. Also missed not having a dressing table of some sort but the staff did their best to provide a small table.
