Great location. Well cared for. Great breakfast. Two good bars, enjoyed live folk music upon arrival. Had dinner at the Ferry Inn - delicious.

The beds weren't the most comfortable and the walls are very thin (aka it's loud). Our toilet had little marks on it when we arrived that weren't cleaned off. The porridge for breakfast wasn't good.

Nice little hotel in Stromness. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great, breakfast staff was delightful. 2 night stay. I don't think I ever got hot water. Warm but not hot. I could never get the heat going. Neither of these things bothered my stay, I took a quick shower and I don't mind a cool room. They 'check in' guy was kinda grumpy, not the most pleasant.

Supper not available at the moment although I believe this will resume.

The staff went out of their way to help us when we had to make an emergency booking because of our other hotel.

Very pricey.

The staff were pleasant and helpful. The location was right on the harbour so there wasn't any convenient parking nearby, be prepared to carry your cases some distance. Yes, the rooms were right above a pub with the pub toilets at the bottom of the narrow stairs to our room. The room itself was hardly big enough to swing a suitcase round in. I stayed in five hotels on the NC500 and this was by far the most expensive and the smallest.

The hotel is perfectly located for the ferry to the mainland. The room was spacious and very nice. The pub in the hotel is also nice; we were allowed to eat our take-aways and were provided with plates and cutlery. Staff is very friendly. But ... (see below). A pub in a hotel simply doesn't work. The noise of loud music and the yelling of customers on their way out at 1:30 am did prevent us from having a good night sleep. This was especially annoying as the ferry for the main land leaves at 6:30 in the morning.

Location was fine, close to ferry. Good breakfast. No food service in pub.

Friendly staff and location

The bed and the bathroom were clean. The carpet was not clean and the bathroom was extremely small. The person serving breakfast thinks she’s funny and was making jokes and comments to every guest choice of breakfast. They barely had anything that I could eat (I know it’s not their fault that I have dietary restrictions) but she couldn’t help herself but to comment that my food was “not very palatable” when she brought it to the table. Wasn’t even an option not to pay for breakfast.

Good
-
The position is good. Near to the Pier from where every ferry departs. We didnt like the absebce of the front office and the lack of assistance of the costumer. Moreover the price for a small room Is too high.

Comfortable , clean….and great breakfast… No dinner available !!! Single room , very tiny !!!

Clean rooms, building in good condition, great location for getting to and from Stromness on public transit, and poking around town on foot or with a bike. Tasty breakfast, with limited serving hours (starts at 7:30, last orders by 8:45). Hotel was able to store luggage for us on our departure day which was a big plus. Staff might tell you what they think in a no nonsense kind of way, but they always offered us genuine help when we asked for it. Note that there is currently no restaurant in the evening here. We found it a good idea to make restaurant reservations around town ahead of time: check out Adam's Place and the restaurant at the Ferry Inn.
