Suzhou Blue Gate Hostel

The location is amazing, it’s good value for the price and the host is super nice and helpful. It is a hostel not a hotel, so it’s a different kind of experience, but for a hostel it is super comfortable.

Claire, the owner was super kind! She has amazing Kombucha, breakfast, and nice books.

At this property I managed to do 8 hour days on my computer in the lobby. I had fast access to water in the fridge, and the host makes a nice coffee. The host was there most of the time when I needed her support with some logistics, and her English is really good. The room and restroom area are what I expected for the price I paid. Additionally the people there were all nice, and I got to play some of the board games in the lobby. There were a few insects in the room, but that’s super minor because they weren’t harmful. Also, towels weren’t already provided, so you had to pay a few rmb to rent one. But other than that it was a great experience and I would do it again any day after I graduate.

It is in a very good position to visit the famous gardens of Souzho. The lady at the reception can speak good english and is very helpful. Wifi connection is very low…

I like everything about this hostel, and felt very welcome by Claire (Zhangxuan). She was the nicest and most helpful person I came across in my travels in China. We had great conversations, very enriching for my Chinese experience. I booked a single room which was clean and comfortable, great bed, I slept very well. The location is also easy to find and perfect to explore Suzhou. I had great breakfast there too. I would definitely come back and recommend it. Also love the sweet dog, Kali.

It's a very accessible location, near the train station, and a walkable distance to Pingjiang St. - it's also near to local food shops. Rooms are on the third floor, quite near to toilets and showers. They provide slippers, hangers etc. There's a friendly dog waiting for you in the lobby ; she's an excellent staff, helping show us to our room! (Beware for those averse to dogs however.) Though they provide hangers, there aren't many places to hang from in the room itself.

The location of the hostel is close to the metro and the city center. The toilets are not very clean, and there are no personal hygiene items (like toilet paper).

Stairs to get to the 2nd floor with heavy luggage. Bathroom was in open air. During winter, it is really cold when you get out of the shower so not great. Thin bed so not so comfortable.

Location and the decorations Lack of people but it was fine as I was out all day.

The lovation is perfect. The owner’s dog is wonderful. I felt very comfortable there. The female dorm was a little chilly (in the coldest minggu of winter) but I chose the bunk by the AC Unit and I was very warm.
