Wonderful 1920’s hotel. We have stayed a number of times over the last few years. It is safe, intersting and convenient to Syracuse University. We have just loved the historical features of the hotel. Not fancy, but clean comfortable and friendly. Now it is being overhauled by A chain and remodeling is feeling cheep. Room doors over painted and sticking badly. Other minor things we were willing to chalk up to growing pains until we learned about the generic overhaul of the lobby planned to obliterate the charming and gorgeous carved cement entrance . I’m happy to see a great old hotel get saved, but no need to take away its charm!

The staff was helpful, but the elevator was broken, and we were on the 4th floor. Not one offer of anything from the hotel to make up for this. They didn't even acknowledge the elevator was broken at first. There was just a sign up.

Nicely air-conditioned room… The staff certainly tries, they’re generally good people.

Hotel is on renovations. Stayed two nights and no breakfast any day, even though the reservation said free breakfast. AC was loud and noisy, could not sleep at night.

The staff were outstanding and very friendly. Arrived late at night and my room was not serviced and instead of turning me away the manager serviced the room at midnight. Under construction so common areas are cordoned off and parking is very limited.

Disappointing

Elevators not working, lobby smelled of cigarette smoke, room temperature was uncomfortable and overall did not feel clean

The staff were friendly. The room was nice and cool. The elevator was out of service so I had to climb five flights of stairs. The neighborhood that the hotel is in is depressing. The breakfast was mid. The bright hallway light shone into the bedroom under the door all night long. The air conditioner was super loud and was constantly turning on and off and on again. This was not the worst hotel, but how on earth is this worth $357?!?!?

Superb

The bed was comfortable. The price of the room did not match the quality of the hotel.

The hotel was continently located but they did inform me they it was under construction. Would have liked to know that before booking. Pretty dusty and smelly.

I checked in 10:30 p.m., the front desk gave me a key card to a room that was already occupied. I opened the door to find a man sitting at the table working on his computer. Thankfully, he was fully clothed, calm, and as confused as I was. This could have gone very differently. I am a woman who was unexpectedly sent into a male stranger's hotel room late at night, while he had his privacy and security violated. There are countless ways this situation could have ended badly. Most concerning was the response. When I returned downstairs, the employee essentially responded with “oops, my bad,” with no apparent recognition of how serious a safety failure this was. The next morning, I tried to hand my key to one of two employees at the desk and was told not to give it to him. It was another strangely unhelpful interaction. I can overlook construction and limited amenities. Giving a guest access to an occupied room and then treating it as a trivial mistake? I cannot overlook that.
