This really is a great place to stay, and to use as a base for exploring the town of Talkeetna and the surrounding area. This was my second stay and I will be back again. As the rooms are clean and comfortable. The kitchen/lounge is ideal for preparing food and meeting other guests.

Great llocation, very quiet, the owner was very friendly and the price was very reasonable for Talkeetna.

I liked its homing feeling and the kitchen has everything you need.

Everything was great. Super clean and felt like home. I just kind of miss having staff in the flesh to greet us, or to answer questions from visitors. Great, homey self-service lodging, but I miss having a front desk staff, or host to answer questions.

It gets noisy with other people walking down the hallway/using guest bathrooms, and trying to look/unlock their doors

The room was comfortable. You know it's bad news when part of the welcome instructions say that there are ear plugs in the drawer next to the bed. I was worried that there would be a train or something nearby but the issue is that the way the place is built you can hear everybody else clumping around especially if you're on the ground floor. Despite there being quiet hours between 10:00 and 8:00 a.m., there were other guests there that were up at 7:00 who were fairly noisy. While the place is clean and everything, it's not especially relaxing.

I have wanted to visit Talkeetna for many years. The Hideaway was the perfect place to stay for my first trip. The communal areas were clean, comfortable and well equipped. The room was pleasant and I slept well. No issues with the shared bathrooms either. The house ‘rules’ are simple and reasonable. Communication with the owner, Chance, was easy and straightforward. The Hideaway is located near enough to town for convenience but far enough away to be peaceful. Nearby is the Swiss Alaska Inn for a great breakfast, and K2 Aviation for flight tours. All in all, the Hideaway was central to an excellent Talkeetna experience. Not being able to stay longer!

Our rooms had private bathroom, but most were European -style, common shower rooms and restrooms. Large common kitchen. Convenient, common laundry rooms. Two other guests cooked very smelly fish dinners which pervaded whole building.

Extremely clean. I was anxious about a shared bathroom but it was no problem at all, everything so clean and nice. Friendly staff and fellow travelers! Nothing really! A mile walk to main street in Talkeetna but the Hideaway was worth the walk. We rented bikes which made it even easier.

Beautiful property, well-maintained and very well-managed. When we booked, we were slightly concerned about sharing bathrooms with other guests; but there was no contention at all and everyone was respectful. The shared baths and common areas are cleaned daily. The laundry facility is a huge plus; you don’t even need coins, as the honor system lets you exchange your dollars for quarters. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, utensils, plates, cups, anything you’d need to prepare food. There is no complimentary shuttle, but a friendly and reasonably priced service by a buddy of the property owner. We enjoyed good conversations with a nice diversity of people staying at the Hideaway. You can pay a lot more to stay in Talkeetna, but I’d bet you won’t find a nicer experience. There was nothing to dislike, honestly. The property is about a mile outside of Talkeetna village and it rained a good bit, so we really needed the shuttle to get around. But we didn't mind paying out of pocket, and the shuttle was readily available for all but one of our transports.

This is a very nice place, comfortable, and very clean. It is located a ways from the downtown so it is easiest to use if one has transportation-although there are local transportation options available. It would be easy to get there by bike. There was great coffee and tea available in the AM and some dry snacks which were ok. I would stay again. This was not a dislike- but it would in some ways be nice to be in town. On the other hand, the town is touristy and so there are benefits to being away from town.

Great kitchen and shared common area.

Chance was outstanding !! He was very communicative and answered all our questions. Very nice place to stay. Has everything one needs when they are far from home. Bravo !

Comfortable, clean and convenient. Also the administrator was a very reasonable and wise man.

Great location and we were able to cook our own breakfast in a full kitchen that was really well stocked. Coffee ready in the morning. Great guests from all over the world. Everything was immaculate. Very quiet location - great for sleeping. A littlemore storage in the room.

Very clean, clear communication for self-check in, quiet property, access to laundry facilities and easy walk to town (15 min). A bit too far from the train depot to walk with luggage but totally fine in a short taxi or car ride.
