This was my first time staying at LaFonda, and I’ve been visiting Taos since my childhood in the 1960’s, and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were small but nicely appointed with comfortable beds and amenities. Baths well equipped and supplied. The lobby is a bit dingy and could use a refresh. Parking lot a bit rough, but convenient. I’d certainly consider it the next time I need to travel to Taos.

Dates back to 1920. A lot of history.
-
Historical hotel that is walkable to restaurants and shops. Staff was very helpful.

It's an old building so there's not much they can do about all of the fragmented sections of corridors connected by stairs. However, if you are in your late 70's like my wife and I, moving luggage in and out of the room was a chore. No breakfast offered but there is a coffee shop attached.

It was a very nice historic hotel on the plaza. The staff was over the top

The property is very tired

Stayed here before doing some hiking nearby. 24 hour front desk was great for my late arrival. They didnt charge me for parking, which was a nice surprise. The hotel itself was very unique and interesting, although I didn't have much time to check it out. My room had tons of space and the bed was comfy. Would definitely love to stay here again when I wasn't so pressed for time.

Asked if we could use a microwave to warm up a burger and fries and we were told absolutely not! Totally offended by that

Loved that it is situated where access to many shops, eateries and trolley were easy. Friendly, helpful staff when asked questions such as directions.

Great location. Nice staff. Small room but clean. Liked that we did not have to request room to be cleaned

Beautiful, historic exterior right on the town square. Very period/rustic lobby and nice common area upstairs. $10 parking lot in back. That’s where the great part ends. Our room needed some substantial maintenance. The floorboard heater in the front room was stuck on and it was unusably hot/stuffy. The bathroom fan made a huge racket. The AC was set to 65 but it never got down below 74 in the bedroom - it just ran all night (maybe because of the heater being on). In all fairness, we didn’t complain - but someone should check on these things as regular upkeep. The last complaint was not the Fonda’s fault - there was a car club revving their engines and squealing tires in the town square well into the evening - it was quite loud and annoying.

Original from the eighteen twenties.

Furthermore, there was loud noise in the street late at night. Like extremely loud noise coming from vehicles.

Clean, great room, well furnished with a great bed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Coffee in room, no breakfast but plenty of options with in walking distance. Secure parking.

The hotel was not up to the standards that the prices would indicate. In the room: carpet was worn; doors were not hung straight; view out the window displayed the lower level A/C units; lobby ice machine was always empty. WIFI worked in the lobby but as the hotel was made from adobe the walls didn't allow for continuation of service. Would not stay again.

Beautiful old hotel, reasonable rates ad a first class staff.

It was a lovely location on the plaza. The bedding could be improved. The room we was like a suite and had Murphy bed which would be convenient for four people. Great coffee shop downstairs.

We loved our stay at Hotel La Fonda! Such a cute and quaint place. Room was so cute. Over 200 year old building. Very cool to stay there. The staff was so helpful and gave a great suggestion for dinner! A local cantina with great food and drinks. Later the cantina had an open mic and the talent was great!! So enjoyable. Thank you!!

While my stay was great, the room location was less than desirable. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but the TV I could not control or connect to cable source. The furnishings were old and the lamp light bulb went on and off on its own.

It is a very old Hotel that needs constant updating. However, We loved the character and uniqueness of it and great location. Staff was excellent and they have a unique Art collection by DH Williamson, set aside for your review upon request. I recommend this unique and fun Hotel when in the area and want to stay on the plaza in Taos. I stay at this Hotel again.
