Mi-Hotel Ikebukuro 池袋

I was mislead thinking it was a hotel and would have separate keys per guest rather than one key for 3 people, doing different activities. When I reached out about extra keys, they told me you could put the key back in the lock box and share the code, but when you have different plans and have to trust everyone to remember to return the key it becomes problematic. It also took me 20 minutes to find the property since its actual name is "One Stage", where there is also no signage besides "One Stage". The third "bed"/futon also had an extremely hard bar that went against your back which was unusable for me since I had a bad back medically. When I reached out the first night, they did not help my problems and we had to eat the costs and find another hotel for our 5 night stay. Unfortunately we had also booked this spot for my last night later on in the trip and when I reached out about cancelation for that they did not even try to give me a discount on the cancelation, even though I canceled 7 days in advance and they also knew I canceled and did not stay at the property the first 5 night stay. Overall misleading property with terrible customer service.

There are 3 beds but there was only one split unit AC in the whole house, that was in living room. While that wouldn't be a problem during Spring and Winter, but that would be something else in Summer. Apart from that, everything was great. I would certainly come back to stay here again.

Might be too far from other popular attractions. Lots of train time

Nice property, nice location, check in was very easy. Wished we could have done one bed instead of two small. But our fault for booking so late.

Good neighborhood, 10min walk from st, there is no big supermarket around you will need to walk more to buy stuff. The apt is big comparing to others apt in tokyo in general. You can easily open big suitcase on the floor in the kitchen/dining area. Apt wasn’t too clean in my opinion, I saw some hairs on the bed linen, and also wasn’t ironed so it looked like linen was washed in the apt. The dishwashing sponge was completely old and used, bit disgusting, for our lucky it had some new ones under the sink. The bathroom was clean, just the wet bathroom not. There is a small mirror there and it was full of stains post shower. The major problem that I had was that I needed to trash away a carry on luggage and to trash it I would need to fill a local form to schedule a collection for it. It needed to be scheduled and I needed to buy two stickers from 7-11 as a signed trash. Total it would cost me ¥400. However, the next day to collect the big size trash would be in 27 days. Which is impossible since I’d not stayed for that long. So I contacted the owner and I asked for help, and the answer after - “yes you will need to contact the local garbage collector” - was they would sort it out for me costing ¥5000 for a service that its way cheaper than that. I understand that probably they had some issues in the past since it had so many advertisements about luggages and fees and even jail if you break the rule. As result, I took the luggage to someone that I know in tokyo and this person sort it out for me.

No one came to clean the room during my 5dyas stay.

Location Was Great & Quiet & Also Very Cozy

no breakfast.. But there are many eateries around the station. and the owner has been promptly answering us especially when i asked for faster internet/ wi-fi.. Everything was made just perfect for our vacation. Since there's no lift, it's better not to bring heavy/ big pcs of luggage. Thank God, we left our big pcs of luggage at the airport. the keys were in a lockbox. the only inconvenience there is the lockbox was placed down on the railing fence which makes it difficult for senior citizens like us to bend down and open. But if the lockbox were placed higher within reach, it would have been easier for older people like us.

Nice shower stall and you get a great view of the neighborhood from outside n the morning! Also the host was very helpful in explaining the process. I was a bit nervous about that at first. The chair to the left of the refrigerator was a bit too uncomfortable to sit in. Also the beds are a bit too close together. In this room you might be better off with a single queen/king size bed.

Loved that it's in a quiet residential neighbourhood with the convenience stores and amenities are nearby with a few minutes walk. It also has a small stove for the quick meal before or after your all day outdoor excursions. The metro station is also within walking distance and it's a few stops away to Shibuya or Shinjuku.

Quiet environment and so clean with complete facilities. Very kind and approachable owner. Very highly recommended place. Near train station and convenience stores around the area. Nothing

The bed would make noise suddenly for no reason.

Wasn’t to far from the train station and tucked away in a very nice and quiet area the room was great for 2 Nothing

Everything Nothing

There were no hangers to dry clothes. Every corner wasn't cleaned/swept/mopped. The towels were shedding everywhere. AC unit has black mold.

Rooms were clean and equipped for a short stay. Kitchen had utensils and it was only a 5 mins walk from the station. It was very quite so no issues with travelling and coming back to sleep. There wasn’t much to dislike. I didn’t have a vacuum to clean my room regularly but that was just it.

every thing is ok Owner forgot to do housekeeping after past guests left. We checked in at 20:00 and had to wait 2 hours for the cleaner came and clean up the rooms.
