Enjoyed our stay! Beach was gorgeous. Food was good

the location was great and the beach was wonderful. The hotel opens on the garden with sea 2 mins away. along the beach, there were lovely beach shacks for food and chilling. The rooms were old and need renovation. TheBalcony had broken paint and could do with some refurbishments. the bathroom doors and drain need to be revisited

The hotel was above expectations. The beach was clean and beautiful, with calm sea, perfect for children, and very clear water. Before arriving, we had read mixed comments, but in our experience both the beach and the sea were excellent. The main pool and the beachfront area were also very pleasant and well maintained. We stayed in a villa with a private pool, which was fantastic. It was much better than expected from the photos, very comfortable, private, and usable throughout the day thanks to shaded areas. We received it as a complimentary upgrade, but after staying there I can honestly say it is worth it. The location is also excellent, very close to the main tourist area with restaurants, while still feeling relaxed and comfortable. For us this stop was almost a small detour in the trip, but it turned out to be a real surprise. I would happily return as a main destination. The only negative point was that the hotel tried to cancel our booking the day before arrival, which could have seriously disrupted our holiday. Thankfully, Booking.com support helped resolve the situation. Another small inconvenience, which seems quite common in Sri Lanka, is having to pay for water separately. Even if the amount is very small, it would be much more comfortable to simply charge it directly to the room without waiting for a separate bill each time. Apart from this, we had a very good experience.

Good

The biggest upset was the food. We ordered several dishes from the a la carte menu and none of the mains were good. Meat/fish rubbery - hard to cut/eat. Same with the menu drinks. The hotel has the tools but looks like the staff is poorly trained in how to prepare food/drinks. Breakfast wasn't that good as well. Lots of renovations and maintenance work in the common areas. I wish we were informed about this.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful beach, great food and very pleasant attentive stuff

Nice pool, walk to the beach. Gorgeous breakfasts - the staff in the breakfast room - Prasanthan, Niranjan and Laksan were particularly lovely. Very relaxing lying under the trees by the pool Even though they were appraised of our arrival time, the air conditioning in the room wasn’t turned on until we walked into it. Also there was no menu in the room, and only two small plastic bottles of water, which really should have been glass , and more plentiful. These are small things, but for the price I think it would be helpful to fix them

Fabulous hotel! Clean and comfortable rooms. Super helpful and friendly staff. Pool area and right on the beach with lots of space and sun loungers.

We just checked out and my son is asking when to return back. Simply one of the best hotels in Srilanka that we have been to so far. Ronson; Reception Manager is very welcoming and fretted us with lots of positive vibes, Pandulla the receptionist is extremely welcoming and showed us the ground and the room. Room is extremely spacious, well stocked with all what we wanted including robes and flip flops, very clean and we had a private pool which again was good sized and clean. We had dinner and breakfast at the property, Good selection and well planned tasty menu options. Prashanth from food and Beverage was very approachable friendly helpful and looked after us well. Praveen one of the checkout staff was again extremely helpful during checkout with heavy bags.

Staff, room, pool, breakfast all excellent. It is a very new hotel and they were putting in the plunge pools for the bungalows, during our stay. They were concerned we might be disturbed by the noise, so gave us a free upgrade to a room further from the work. The work didn't bother us at all and it is probably finished by time of writing so don't let that put you off. Still a little work to do on the gym (air con/shower) not a massive deal for us. Spa is in progress and should be finished for the summer season, again didn't affect us at all. Staff were all lovely, very welcoming. Had a few lunches whilst lounging by the pool, simple and tasty and very reasonably priced. Spicy prawns were excellent. We visited another couple of competitor hotels for a quick drink during our stay and we were very happy we had chosen DSK. Others looks dated. It was off-peak when we stayed, so sometimes there was breakfast menu to choose from and sometimes buffet depending on how many guests were staying. Load of sunbeds - under the palm trees or by the pool and I'm sure the staff would have moved a couple onto the beach if wanted to be closer to the sea! Even when busy it looked like enough beds for everyone. The hotel kindly packed us a complimentary picnic for our overnight train back to Colombo, which was generous and very welcome! We used the free bikes several times to cycle down the the town and explore around the Fort area. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a relaxing stay on the East Coast away from the crowds in the West. I would definitely stay again if we return to Sri Lanka. Just tiny details which really don't affect your stay but having stayed in some fab hotels over the years I notice them. Slightly poor workmanship in the bathroom for installation of the fittings. Its a small thing but when you position yourself as a luxury resort the attention to detail is important. Bikes slightly comical - ie a bit rickety. For the high season they should make sure these are properly maintained. Working locks and Ok tyres. Wifi not brilliant - had to login to different routers around the resort and the internet TV didn't really work in either of our rooms due to unstable wifi but who wants to watch BBC world news. None of these things would stop me going back or recommending it highly.

Brilliant hotel, with very welcoming, friendly staff. We were sad we had only booked one night here; really wish it had been longer. Highly recommend!! Brilliant breakfast. Lovely main pool and our room had its own plunge pool. I only have good things to say about this hotel.

The stuff was really friendly, the hotel is amazing, you can totally chill at the beach or at the fancy pool. During the night is no noise in the hole Resort. to the city is super close with the tuk tuk, or you can rent a scooter close to the Resort for 3000 Rupien for 1 Day.

The food was great, staff was very attentive. The beach was beautiful and nearly empty. Access to other eating establishments and scuba diving nearby. Free bikes were in bad condition.

Exceptional

this WILL BE a fabulous resort. Half of it is still under construction and whilst management tries to lessen the impact of workers and noise lots if it are tarped off and work is from about 6.30am to 11.30pm. construction

The disinfectant used in bedrooms was very unpleasant

A new hotel, opened six months ago. The rooms are very spacious, independent cottages, beautifully decorated, and the beds are super comfortable. The infinity pool is right on the beach, which is very flat, perfect for swimming in the sea. As for the buffet, both for breakfast and for lunch at the hotel if you're so inclined, it's spectacular, very varied, and of high quality (I counted more than 30 different desserts!). Special mention should be made of the level of service, superior to many 5-star hotels I've stayed at, both in Europe and Asia: room cleaning, tea and coffee service, twice-daily towel and amenities change, fast and impeccable room service, etc. And of course, the attention and friendliness of all the staff is extraordinary. In short, a truly five-star hotel with a quality/price ratio that's hard to beat. nothing
