Hotel Porto Novo

The food was outstanding! I ate dinner & breakfast there & they were both excellent! The woman working in the kitchen was kind & helpful. The room was very large. The neighborhood was safe & it was a short walk to the aquarium. The lighting in the room was not great, I had to use the light on my phone to see things on the shelves.

The furniture should be update.

Nothing Arrived Saturday afternoon; no-one behind the pleasant reception desk but instead a cantankerous, unhelpful women behind a small window with prison-like bars around the corner out of sight. LaqShe gave us no information about WiFi code or hidden restaurant merely a key to a windowless room. Managed with difficulty to change to a sparsely furnished room with window but no obvious electrical sockets. Eventually found two behind wall suspended t.v. screen from which our devices could only dangle. Bathroom had no door between it and bedroom... so noises, smells and damp wafted in.

Price $$ was to much compared to better hotels with better locations but my reservation was ready And cancel with booking could be complicated sometimes Toilet was broken

The room was very very spacious, it was almost big enough for a small party! Even though I'm not the party type at this stage of life. It was decent and had a boutique vibe to it. I enjoyed the space, it made me feel very abundant. THE ELEVATOR! THE ELEVATOR OF TERROR! THE ELEVATOR OF DOOM! I travel with my 1 year old baby boy and significant other and just because I hung around the entry point of the elevator for 1 fraction of a second, I got smashed, almost impaled by the elevator doors that just SLAM SHUT! I am so glad I was wearing a heavy backpack, but those elevator doors did do some damage, they are fast, so I think you can seriously get injured or worse if you get caught up in those elevator doors. The staff tells you a tip on how to keep them open but only after you get smashed like a potato and possibly severely injured. If my face would have gotten caught up in that, I don't think I'd be alive to write this review. God forbit my 1 year old baby boy who sometimes walks slow gets caught up in those doors. This is a HUGE risk. I'm not even joking, this could really injure or hurt someone. Leaving our room and re-entering was dreadful just because of the elevator...we would have to run as quick as possible in to avoid getting hurt.... there was a point where I felt I needed to launch and throw my child out before he got squished to death. This seriously needs to get checked.
