This hotel is one of several repurposed Jewish mansions in the historic Jewish quarter. It’s a fantastic location and the river and synagogue beside it are amazing. The community saved the buildings, although the town did destroy the centuries old graveyard, destroying most of the gravestones and putting a children’s park on top of their graves… A total of 460 Jews from Veria were captured and deported. They were first transported to the transit camp in neighboring Thessaloniki and then loaded onto cattle cars bound for Poland. Extermination: Of the 460 deported Veria Jews, 448 were murdered immediately upon arrival or perished under the brutal conditions at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. Following the defeat of the Nazis, 123 of the Jewish escapees returned to Veria hoping to rebuild their lives. However, they arrived to find their homes occupied by newcomers, their properties plundered, and their possessions entirely gone. Disgusting history. May their memory be a blessing. Many reviewers mention the mediocre breakfast and the staff seem to take offence instead of looking for ways to improve. I expect my review will garner the same, but it’s a red flag. My room was right beside the front desk. In 2 instances I had to ask two different staff members to lower their voices during my daily afternoon naps as their chatter woke me up. They were just having a personal conversation, and it stopped immediately but the walls are thin. Also the bathroom door wouldn’t close and it looked like it needed to be rehung. I mentioned it, but they didn’t get to it during our stay. Also there’s no kettle or coffee maker in the room we had.

Very nice breakfast, cooked to order. It came with a selection of toast, omelet, nuts, cheeses, meats, lemon cake etc. There wasn't anything I didn't like.

The house is an architectural gem located in the old jewish quarter of Veria. After remaining unoccupied for decades it was acquired by its current owners and revived to its original splendor. This endeavor took a long time and a significant investment, but now guests can enjoy a unique boutique hotel. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, and relaying a feeling of home and cosiness. A pity we only spent one night there, but hope to return and also visit Veria, a town with a rich history. Being a family business, breakfast is also consisting of local fresh produce and home-made marmelades and cakes plus local honey. A big thank you to the owners. The only problem with Kokkino Spiti is to find your way to the dedicated parking lot by car. We arrived at night during an unfolding summer tempest and the address on Waze takes you to the entrance dedicated when arriving on foot. Lookily one of the hosts came to rescue and drove with us to the parking lot, otherwise extremely complicated to find. Beware, reception desk closes at 22:00.

The location of the hotel near the river was ideal!! The staff was so kind and helpful for our local walks. There was enough parking area near the hotel!! Also, the breakfast was tasteful with enough options to choose from. Our main complaint was about heating... In our room we had only AC for heat that was not comfy (when we had a batg for example). Also our room was so small for a couple with our languages...

The sound of the water, the brilliant fresh air, the cozy room and homemade breakfast! The place with history. Everything was perfect!

This family owned and run hotel is right next to the synagogue in the Jewish quarter, with a tunnel through the building across that takes you right into the center of town. It is on a dead end street, so no traffic noise. Frequent hotel signs made it easy to get to the hotel. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, one even drove us to dinner the night it rained. We had the balcony suite, which was very comfortable. Breakfast was good, but not as much variety as some others we've stayed in. We would definitely stay her again. Nothing.

What a lovely hotel! It's in a fabulous location, overlooking the river and right next to the old synagogue and, once you get your bearings, a great location for seeing all the best parts of old Veria. I loved the recessed windows in my room - you could leave them open and listen to the sound of the river at night - the beams on the ceiling and the nice big bathroom. The breakfast was good and the staff were simply delightful and they could not do enough for me. Definitely THE place to stay in Veria! Absolutely nothing!
