Sleep Inn & Suites Verona - Madison Southwest

Our company sends multiple people to travel hundreds of thousands of miles, from coast to coast, on an annual basis. For the recent Epic UGM event, in Verona, Wisconsin, we decided to stay at the same location that was used for the previous two Epic XGM events, the Sleep Inn & Suites Verona. The rooms were clean and, candidly, we could save a little money versus the Holiday Inn or Marriott, which are just down the street. Understandably, during the Epic UGM event, the rooms were dynamically priced higher than usual. And, we were essentially forced to use Booking.com due to availability. All of that is fine. What is not acceptable, is the ‘refund’ we were given when we did not need the last night of a six-day reservation. Previously, the nightly rate was in the $150 range. The average during the Epic UGM event was around $500 per night. Again, we understand the pricing, that is not the problem. We attempted to contact the property, through Booking.com, to discuss the last night of the reservation. We received no response. Once on property, we made the situation known. Upon deciding that the last night was no longer necessary, the Sleep Inn front counter staff told us we must contact Booking.com. Naturally, Booking.com informed us that we must speak with the staff on property. You can imagine how delightful this was. After wasting more of our time (AI is simply not that good, yet) than one should expect, the Booking.com and the Sleep Inn front counter staff collaborated and a refund was approved. Yet, with an average night’s stay of approximately $500, the refunded amount was $168.75. You are now probably thinking the same thing. How can this be? Is this the amount that we should have been paying all along or a manipulated amount? Yes. We did, too. We only send this letter as an opportunity for Sleep Inn and Suites, Booking.com, and Choice Hotels to improve their service. Generally, people do not say a word. They just leave

Clean room, good breakfast, good installation, was great!

Such a nice property! Very convenient location and reasonable price. Amenities are adequate for our purposes. Rooms are nicely decorated and it’s always been clean— we stay here often. Beds are ok— Probably standard to the industry but if you need more support they might not work well for you. We will continue to stay here.

Might be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Arrived and first room was filthy and reeked of cigarette smoke. Changed to another room that was not much better. The entire “non smoking” hotel smelled of cigarette smoke: halls, rooms, bedding, towels. Was in town for a conference and called around to other hotels, of course because of the Epic conference everything within as hour of the hotel was sold out. Went to Walmart purchased a pillow, sleeping bag and towels to use. I assume housekeeping came into my room each day, but unsure what they actually did. The same dirty popsicle stick that was on the floor when I arrived was still there days later when I left. Please do yourself a favor, do not stay here.

Bed & pillows very comfortable, no complaints, would stay again.

Breakfast was fine, and we liked the coffee machine, which lets you choose regular or decaf coffee, Americano or espresso.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel, especially for the price. While not fancy, it had a nice little pool, free continental breakfast with very good coffee, vending and ice machines were easy to find, and the room was spotless, and well appointed. The tv selection was robust and h th e bed was super comfy. We will definitely stay again.

Smells very clean, looks very clean, leaves breakfast out longer which is helpful! staff always available and kind. Air conditioner no odor, modern and clean carpet etc. Highly recommend !!! Great price and location

We booked a room with a pullout couch to be used, and the sheets were not on the bed. When asking the front desk for sheets, they informed me they didn’t have any fitted sheets for the couch. They offered me a pillow and a sheet. They seemed confused when I asked for a second sheet to be able to create my own bottom sheet. The couch was incredibly uncomfortable. So much so that my son woke up in the middle of the night and had to change beds. None of the staff could be identified with name, badges or uniforms and wore politically opinionated T-shirts. The bathroom sink is located in the area where everyone sleeps so using the bathroom at night and washing your hands is a complete inconvenience to everyone sleeping.

The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and nice. The pool was closed for maintenance, but we knew that before we arrived.

This hotel was clean and comfortable. The pool was down for maintenance so could not be used. Breakfast was offered and was very good. Staff was very accommodating.

the location was perfect. Just a short drive to see family. the pool was closed, no laundry facilities. Housekeeping came only once during our 5 day stay, I think partly because they came so early in the morning and we were still there and they never came back. The breakfast also did not look appetizing at all. Also, my car was side swiped in the parking lot so that sucked.
