Red Roof Inn Virginia Beach

We stayed here for 2 nights. I thought the rate for 2 nights was fairly reasonable, considering the location and time of year compared to some places closer to the oceanfront. I was wrong. We got to the room, no microwave, no refrigerator, no hair dryer or clothes iron. Thank goodness I brought my hair dryer and portable steam iron. There was no drain plug for sink or bathtub. The floor was dirty. There was a bug in the shower, and my husband found others that he didn't tell me about until after we checked out. The towels were thin and appeared stained/dirty. The makeshift bedspread was stained; bed was not comfortable at all. It sank in the middle. The ac was a window unit placed in the wall, which said to replace filter. God only knows what we were breathing in and it wasn't even very cold. My husband went to the office to complain and we were told that we booked a "standard" room. So standard means nothing but a bed and a bathroom and a tiny TV? We travel frequently and have stayed in "standard" rooms that were way nicer. Will never stay at another Red Roof Inn if no amenities is there idea of "standard." Wasn't worth what we spent.

I am writing this review to warn all future travelers about the severe lack of professionalism and ethics at this property. We made a confirmed reservation well in advance through Expedia. However, when we arrived at the property at 11:00 PM after a long journey, we were shocked to find out that they had resold our room to someone else. The staff showed absolutely no empathy, accountability, or willingness to help us find an alternative solution. They simply did not care that they were leaving us completely stranded in the street late at night in an unfamiliar place. It is deeply irresponsible and dangerous for a hospitality business to treat paying customers this way. A confirmed booking should be a guarantee, but this place clearly prioritizes quick profit over customer safety and basic respect. Do not risk your trip or your safety by booking here. If you want a reliable place that actually honors their reservations and won't leave you out in the cold at midnight, look elsewhere. Completely unreliable, unprofessional, and unsafe. Avoid at all costs!

Clean room, nice staff just need to have more towels

as soon as I walked in the room I walked right out, smelled like cigarettes and other things, i couldnt stay there with my family, i was not the only person who complained. I asked for a refund and the manager was not there, i just left and booked the hotel next door

There was a wrapped on top of the shelving by the bathroom but could easily be missed as it’s out of site. Otherwise pretty good and slept well!

The staff is amazing. It's definitely a pet friendly establishment. I did see quite a few dogs on the premises but none were vicious.

I liked the location since it wasn’t too far from the beach. The sheets and bedding were stained with red and brown spots , when given new ones they were dirty as well. The bathroom had a nasty scent.

We eventually went to the front desk in person and were told housekeeping would bring towels within 15 minutes. They never arrived. The lack of basic amenities, poor communication, and unresponsive service made for a frustrating experience. I would not stay here again.

Dirty cloth left in shower with pubic hair on it. Trash found on floor. No hair dryer. No extra blanket. Staff was okay. Hole in bathroom door where it looked kicked in. Shower curtain would not stay closed because of the angle the curtain rod was installed. Water pressure was very good. Overall kind of ghetto.

The room was clean but the amenities were a little outdated. The staff was very nice. My hat goes off to the guy who pics up the trash( ocassionally does rooms). He does an excellent job regarding the upkeep of the property

Toilet water was running all night long,dirty floors with gum stuck in one spot along the path from bed to bathroom. No fridge or microwave like promised

The room was clean. AC worked. Water pressure was average. Hot water was good. Bed was comfortable. It was quiet. Really good price for my last minute stay.

The room was dirty—cobwebs in the corners, hairs in the shower/tub, our feet were black from minimal walking in the room. The bed was not comfortable and only 2 pillows on a king bed, 2 small towels, no fridge or microwave, no toiletries. Just not what I’d expect for the price at all.
