First of all, the hotel and pool are beautiful. The farm on the property and the view were very special. Some aspects of the building could use some work. In particular the carpets were dirty and our room smelled pretty bad and for some reason the whole section of carpet in front of the door was very wet when we arrived and never really dried out. The staff was a mess. Check in was an hour late despite 4pm being “guaranteed”. Several other rooms for the wedding weren’t ready until after 6pm. When we asked for an extra key card they deactivated the old ones so other people in the room couldn’t use them. We tried to get an itemized receipt and explanation of charges and the staff was just like I don’t know how or I don’t know who’s card this will go on. The after party at the bar after the wedding that was hosted by the hotel was abruptly cut by basically being bounced by staff. I get they want to close but this is hospitality 101 when someone pays a lot of money for a wedding at your hotel to be tactful about informing people they are closing. It felt like every staff member was just starting their first week there.

The bedding was very comfortable and the room was nice, it’s a beautiful property and setting, will go back sometime.

The shower in our room was dirty. There was a ton of rust on the curtain rod. The air conditioning unit made so much noise all night long but I didn’t dare switch rooms because my youngest daughter had just fallen asleep. Overall the hotel is not worth the price. Very disappointing.

Service is excellent in all areas, and demonstrates old world charm. Food in the dining room and in the bar was delicious, whether something as simple as a pizza, or as elegant as a delicate scallop and pasta dish. Desserts were delicious and not to be missed. This resort is quite large, and there are a lot of long hallways to reach the various sections. If you have mobility challenges, I would suggest requesting a room close to the elevator. Also, drop your luggage in front of the hotel before you park as it is a bit of a hike and some stairs to enter the lobby if you come in from the main parking lot. This hotel was a highlight of our journey through MA, VT and NH. I would highly recommend it if you want a resort filled with old world charm and elegance.

We enjoyed the pool daily and had lunch and cocktails poolside. It was most enjoyable, and the sun was out every day. Most unhappy that our door key did not work to open our room upon arrival. It took approximately thirty minutes to have it fixed. Secondly, the coffee maker in our room did not work and was replaced with another that also did not work. Walking to the lobby to find the pot was empty was enough to make me rethink our choice of staying at the Grand View. The last straw for me was the fire pit area; it was unkempt, and the cushions on the patio were filthy. After stopping at the bar, my husband and I wanted to sit outside, but the fire pit was not lit. After going to the lobby and asking them to turn it on, I was told the maintenance man was not available to turn it on! Looking back on our trip, I do not think we will be returning. It simply went downhill since our last visit which is very dissapointing.

The location and views were amazing. Lots of lovely spots all around the property to sit and enjoy. Really beautiful and peaceful property. Lots of activities available. Staff at front desk was friendly. Fresh water easily accessible in lobby area. Carpeting was worn and stained in stairs and hallways…could have used a good shampoo! The room we had was older and had stains on ceiling. Could use some updating in parts of the hotel. Some of the activities could have been included in the price of the stay.

Although this is a beautiful and historic property, it is filthy. The entrance rug was disgraceful. The rugs coming off the elevator were soiled and contained an offensive odor. The elevator doors and floor were spilled on and were not cleaned for the duration of our stay. The toilet in the guest room was exceptionally low - certainly not comfort height. For the caliber of this hotel, it was HIGHLY disappointing! The guest room was kept clean but wires were hanging from the TV. Mostly, however, the common areas were unkept and dirty. The staff was ambivalent. The one server on the veranda, was not attentive or friendly. The breakfast buffet ended at 11:00. We walked in a 10:45 and were allowed to partake in the remaining items on the buffet but were rushed. We were told the buffet closed at 10:45 to clean up. If restaurant hours are posted until 11:00 then full service should be made available for the full duration of time. This hotel can not rest on its laurels because of its majesty. It needs to provide better service and cleanliness. We will not return and will not recommend it.

Loved this resort. Hope they renovate the interior pool / jacuzzi soon but the outdoor pool area is so great! Really makes the place in the summer. Front porch and rocking chairs are amazing too!
