Fairy Knowe Hotel

We stayed in Bungalow 14 and it was the best. On the river and very well appointed and comfy

The room was beautiful and view absolutely breath taking. The hotel is truly hidden gem in Wilderness. You can have a braai right next to the river, as well as swim in the river or kayak. Jacques who welcomed us made the stay even more special with his flamboyant personality and hospitality. One of the best hotel stays ever! The staff were a bit noisy in the mornings when getting ready for the day.

The Fairy Knowe is and extremely efficient and well-managed resort. It is located in a serene environment alongside the Touw River adjacent to the Garden Route National Park in South Africa. Guests can participate in a number of eco-activities like canoeing, bird watching and hiking. The well-kept gardens of the venue are immaculate. Although we as pensioners usually stay in self-catering venues, the amenities of Fairy Knowe, not being a SC-venue, offered us four absolute delightful days. Other than the included hearty breakfasts, our refurbished rondawel was neat and provided us with all in addition to an aircon and DSTV. The neat attire of the staff, in general, and the very polite and helpful staff at reception, is commendable. Furthermore, the location of the Fairy Know offers easy access to most prominent tourist attractions along the Garden Route – and when returning after a busy day exploring the hinterland, such as the Seven and Phantom Pass, it offers a most welcome home-coming environment in providing numerous outdoor ‘easy chair and table’ amenities on the river bank that include braai-areas should the need arise. We can, without any reservation, recommend the Fairy Knowe venue as such. In closure, a comment if I may: The A-la-Carte midday- and evening meals available, although enjoyable, could possibly consider a more variable menu.

Just an overall great experience Nothing

The grounds are very beautiful, really exceptional, and the room was fairly clean. All staff very friendly. Bedding and towels were not great - more hostel than hotel. Small investment in this area would improve property greatly and enhance stay a lot.

Reason for staying overnight was to watch a football match on the tv which my husband didnt want to miss so instead of driving home we booked at this hotel. Game was not on our bedroom tv so we asked the staff to please change channel as they had a British rugby game on and they refused. We had to run around in Wilderness to try find a restaurant showing the game. Not ideal when this was the reason for us booking Fairy Knowe and did send them a message to confirm all this.

Fantastic location and great facilities, like free kayak hire and right on the river. Cute little rondavels. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. Location next to a commercial canoe hire place was rather noisy, and when it rained, it was impossible to keep the floors dry, so I had to use the towels. Not very well equipped inside, no water glasses, only a weird wooden teaspoon.

Nice setting. The WiFi, electricity, air conditioning didn’t work

The hotel has a nice historical ambience and is beautifully located on the river with nice tropical gardens all around. Combined with the casual vibe it makes a perfect holiday destination in beautiful Wilderness.

All good really. It's a place to return if you like nature.

Firstly we thought all the staff we encountered, were extremely polite, efficient and attentive to our needs. The hotel had a "Old world" charm about it un-spoilt by modernization. Breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. Certainly on our return list the next time we pass through The Wilderness. No complaints

Great position Told me my room was garden view , no view at all , misleading people by claiming there rooms have a view , telluride frustrating , even the staff state I was misled

Peaceful location, with plenty of activities to do onsite - kids play area, kayaks, pools - and a great chance to completely unwind and relax! Plenty of great restaurants nearby if you wish to go out, but the restaurant on site is fantastic and the service was attentive and warm. Nothing, was absolutely brilliant!
