Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

The hotel is at a great location and you can tell the first floor was updated, however the rooms are very dated and the elevator is hot!

I enjoyed my stay. Loved the layout of the suite. Just felt the furniture could use some upgrading. This will be my go to place for my next vacation.

The room was dirty. The location is great, the beach was amazing, and the pool was okay. The restaurant wasn’t great. I would only go back because of the location and the beach, but the rooms definitely need a good cleaning and fresh paint.

We stayed from 20 August to the 23rd no once our room was clean I called the maids service several times. went I see them t on the hall , I asked again. When are you gonna clean my room and they will saying” in a little bit ma’am, “never did clean my room. . I have to go down to the lobby to get towels. The unit was and the desperate need of maintenance .You can tell they have fixed several leaks in the ceiling before and the wasn’t look very appealing. The beach was extraordinary. The restaurants was wonderful, but they have to work on their maid service and repair the unit. The couch was really old. I won’t recommend it.

I don’t know why this place rating is below a nine. The view the rooms all is great. I come here a few times a year and never disappoint. Don’t go by some reviews. Try by it for yourself.

Ocean view was great even though we were on the second floor. Unfortunately they were short staff so restaurant/tiki bar at times was closed. Great pool.

I was very impressed with this place. We LOVED our suite and it was comfortable for 3 people. Having 2 toilets in the room was great. The pool was nice and you’re far down the beach which makes it feel private. We would 100% recommend.

It was unfortunate no breakfast was available since kitchen was closed on Wednesday. (Accident of some kind ). Our plan was to not get groceries since our stay was short and just stay to enjoy a full day at beach/ pool etc. but had to venture out to eat.

We had an upsetting incident when our room was also assigned to another family. It was very alarming when our door opened and several strangers began to enter. We appreciate that the staff was apologetic and attempted to compensate us for the incident, but this is something that should never happen to begin with.

Overall it was wonderful. The view was fabulous, pool and hot tub were clean. The kitchenette is very basic . The furnishings were clean but older. The restaurant was closed unexpectedly but they put out finger foods instead. I would definitely go back for the location, view and price.

We stay every years here. Staff has always been nice and check in always smooth. Even we’re able to check in early. We have stayed in 3 different rooms and all have been nice and clean and well decorated. We love the less crowded beaches of the north end of Wrightsville.

That being said, the room we were in needed some help. There was visible mold in the bathroom and soft spots on the walls by the tub. The showerhead was as cheap as you could go (think 30 year old motel level quality) but it did get the saltwater off us while rinsing. The kitchen sink needed caulk, the tv was not secured to the wall very well (and it was a poor quality TV). We semi-expect this though. We have been coming here for 7years now and keep returning for the location, included parking and views. If you intend to spend a lot of time in your room while vacationing on Wrightsville Beach consider other properties. If you are like us and really only sleep in the room but spend most of the vacation on the beach or out and about, then this is an excellent place to stay.

The property was okay but not well maintained frankly.

We had an okay stay overall. The best part of the resort is easily the location—our family loved the direct, easy access to both the beach and the pool, which is where we spent the majority of our time. However, the accommodations and facilities feel quite outdated and could really benefit from a modern refresh. A few specific issues made our stay less comfortable: * Stifling Elevators: The resort really needs to install an AC or proper cooling system in the elevators. They were extremely hot every time we used them. * Lack of Charging Ports: There are no USB or USB-C outlets anywhere in the room, which makes managing devices for a family pretty tricky. * Bathroom Issues: The exhaust fan in the shower wasn't functional. With six of us (myself, my wife, and our four kids) taking showers, the buildup of steam created heavy condensation that made the floors slippery. We had to line the floor with towels to keep everyone safe. Additionally, the interior lock on the door leading to the main shower didn't work. * Maintenance Needs: The refrigerator in our room was completely missing its door handle. The Shell Island Resort has great potential thanks to its fantastic location and amenities, but management really needs to invest in updating and maintaining the property. It was a decent trip, but with some key upgrades, it could have been a much better experience.

Overall stay was good, loved the room and staffs were so friendly and helpful with what we need.

Not so good- Bed was older and sagging, guest bathroom light stopped working- it was fixed- then stopped again, kitchenette was not really usable, room and hotel need updating
