We loved the location. We did not like the musty smell, lack of elevator, carpet was dirty, no air conditioning and window barely opened. No WiFi. The staff was helpful in getting us towels. The furniture hadn’t been vacuumed underneath the armoire and the carpet was dirty in our room and halls. Additionally, we did not realize that we were staying in what used to be a dorm. Again, the location was great and the actual hotel was lovely.

    Enjoyed the stay

I enjoyed the lobby area and front porch. I wish they had WiFi or cellular booster as I had no cell signal at all.

Restaurants were out of one or more menu items every time we ate at the hotel or lake lodge. Hard to believe you can run out of oatmeal or salad… The biggest surprise was there was no internet at the hotel. Thankfully I brought my mini-Starlink with me and was able to have internet (and check work emails) while visiting my friends at their camp site in the Bay Bridge campground. Seems to me that additional training of the staff is warranted. It’s such an iconic hotel located right by the lake. Just a little more effort by the hotel staff could have made our stay so much more enjoyable.

I liked that a fan was provided and they had nice smelling soap and lotions

We stayed 6 nights and the hotel power failed at least 4-5 times. Usually in the mornings or evenings. During power outages which could last up to 45 minutes, the elevators were not functional which meant lugging luggage up and down from upper floors. We predicted a morning outage and packed late the night before. Sure enough, it was out when we would have been trying to pack out from the 4th floor!

It was fine for what we needed a place to sleep that wasn’t our car. The beds were really creaky and not really comfortable. Housekeeping forgot to give us fresh towels every day.

Rooms were dirty with dirty towels still sitting in room and sheets were dirty.

For being in the middle of national park the hotel is great. Good views, decent food and nice rooms. I was disappointed in dinner but again, they are remote. I recommend getting a lake view room if you can. My room overlooked the delivery entrance so 7 am on was truck noise. Also they do not have wi fi so you need to go down to the lodge for any service.

For a historic property that is the oldest in Yellowstone National Park, this hotel is impressively maintained. The setting on the shore of Yellowstone Lake is outstanding. We enjoyed having dinner in the Sun Bar while the sun was setting over the beautiful lake. Breakfast the next morning in the Dining Room was great. We stayed here for only 1 night on the second day of a 3-day, 2-night trip from our base in Big Sky, MT. We had taken time to drive the incredible Beartooth Scenic Highway west to east and then stay in Red Lodge for 1 night. The next day, we drove through Cody (where we spent most of the day at the superb Buffalo Bill Center of the West) to re-enter the NP and then spend a night at this hotel. The location of the hotel fit our needs perfectly since we wanted to be in the park to spend an entire day touring Yellowstone Lake, Fishing Bridge, Canyon, and West Thumb. Staff members here are friendly, helpful and efficient.

Rooms were beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and the lake is stunning. There were not refrigerators, but ice machines on every floor for the cooler.

The lodges are tidy, comfortable beds and excellent showers. The location can't be beat.

We were surprised on checking in to find out there was no internet connectivity. In 2026 that is surprising. Spoke to a leader a few days later only to be told then that there were computers in the business center that I could have used to check into my flight instead of driving to another hotel to use their internet connection. Also surprised there were no TVs anywhere. These things should be mentioned when making reservations

the room was very well furnished. clean and inviting. shower was exceptional.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Outrageously expensive. If you want to visit Yellowstone the financial trauma almost offsets the park experience.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Great place but you have limited ac6 to an internet connection.

The cabins are a dump and the best thing that could happen would be if they burnt to the ground

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Amazing staff. We had the best quality dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Bar area with small appetizers was amazing

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The location is good since it’s in the park close to the east entrance road on the Grand Loop right on the lake.

Good food! Nice cabin. Deer was in front of the door in the morning.
